Because 98% of the town is not connected to any commercial or private communal sewer system, all commercial, industrial and small institu-tional activities must prepare plans and conduct appropriate on-site testing and evaluation for on-site sewage disposal, for systems which discharge less than 10,000 gallons per day of sewage. Much of this on-site testing takes time and can be weather dependent.
The Board of Health is involved in regulating private and public on-site soil testing for sewage disposal systems Including planning, specifica-tions, soil evaluation, and deep observation tests and the protection of the public health. Annual restaurant inspections are also conducted. Permits, Applications and Forms can be found on the Town website at www.southboroughtown.com/health/health.htm
