Background: Echo360’s digital tools enable you to extend your instruction to students

around-the-clock while simply continuing to teach the same way you always have. Whether you’re flipping the classroom or recording feedback on test results, Echo360 helps you use valuable class time for more engagement, discussions and group learning activities.

There are two basic types of Echo360 recordings: Scheduled and Ad Hoc. There are also two types of rooms: Hardware and Software. Let’s examine the process for requesting and managing a scheduled recording in both room types.

NOTE: Be sure the lapel microphone is on for all recordings.

Action: Request a scheduled recording (applies to either room type)

Go to capture.usask.ca in order to contact the lecture capture scheduling team. There are two main considerations for using lecture capture:

1. Is the room in which you are teaching equipped with a lecture capture software/device? 2. Given that the room is capable of lecture capture, have you emailed the lecture capture

support team to schedule your lectures for the term/year?

When emailing [email protected] be sure to include the instructor name, course name and classroom for each scheduling instance. If you have any special requirements (i.e. dates included/excluded, room requirements) please include that information.

Once your course(s) has been scheduled you will receive a confirmation email. Please review this email as it contains useful information about help and resources including the room type.

Background: Scheduled recordings are typically arranged for the entire term.

Action: Record a scheduled lecture in a hardware equipped room

Upon arriving in the lecture capture room, log in to the computer console using your NSID and password to authenticate.

Once Windows has started, locate the Echo360 shortcut on the desktop. Double-click the icon to open the web interface. You should see a window with three tabs: Captures, Monitor and Help. If your scheduled recording hasn’t started you will see a countdown (This capture starts in X:XX...) at the bottom of the window.

If desired, you may click the Start Capture button to begin the scheduled recording earlier than the scheduled time.

Once the countdown has expired or the capture has been manually started, the window will change to show Stop Capture, Pause Capture and Extend Capture buttons.

Background: There are two types of rooms in which recordings occur. The rooms are hardware or

software capture enabled. A hardware room requires no special considerations.
