Abstract

Strategic management diversification is an inevitable process in the development of industrial enterprises. Research on the diversified management of Chinese companies is of crucial significance because it not only enriches studies in this field but also enhances the understanding of management practices in China. Since China began to develop its consumer electronics industry in the 1980s, Chinese home electronics companies have chosen to establish its framework on a diversified basis. Chinese management diversification of home electronics companies is different from cases in developed countries, such as Europe, the United States, and Japan. The strategy adopted by Chinese industrial enterprises tend to serve as a companywide plan of action rather than a business tactic. It is also a scheme for development rather than a strategy to survive the competition. Since the demand for traditional products at the domestic market has come to saturation in the recent years, Chinese home electronics industry is facing new challenges at this transitional stage.

About the author

Xueye Zhou graduated from Tohoku Normal University in 1987 with a master degree in literature. He received his Master of Business Administration from Kyushu Sangyo University, Japan in 2004 and his Ph. D in management in 2008 from the same graduate school. He is currently an adjunct professor at Nishinippon Institute of Technology, Japan. His research interest includes management strategy and innovation.
