2015 NHL ALL-STAR FAN VOTE PRESENTED BY SIRIUSXM

Sabres forward Zemgus Girgensons, along with Blackhawks teammates Corey Crawford, Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook and Jonathan Toews, were the first six players to earn spots in the 2015 NHL Honda All-Star Game, courtesy of fan votes in the 2015 NHL All-Star Fan Vote presented by SiriusXM.

Girgensons closed out the six-week campaign as the top overall vote-getter with 1,574,896 votes. Forwards Kane and Toews collected 1,232,201 and 1,217,210 votes, respectively, to earn the second and third overall spots. Keith was fourth overall and tops among defensemen with 1,198,173 votes. Seabrook tallied 1,016,992 votes for the second defenseman spot and sixth overall position. Crawford topped all goaltenders and ranked fifth overall with 1,099,504 votes.

Fans cast more than 35 million votes in the 2015 NHL All-Star Fan Vote presented by SiriusXM, up 52 percent from the 2012 campaign. Nearly 27 percent of those votes were garnered by fans outside of North America, up 7,000 percent from 2012.

2015 NHL ALL-STAR GAME CAPTAINS

Blue Jackets forward Nick Foligno and Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews will serve as captains for the 2015 NHL All-Star Weekend.

Kings defenseman Drew Doughty and Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane will serve as assistant captains for Team Foligno, while Ducks forward Ryan Getzlaf and Rangers forward Rick Nash will serve as assistant captains for Team Toews.

The captains and assistant captains were selected by NHL Hockey Operations in consultation with players chosen as 2015 NHL All-Stars and will lead the 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Game team selection process during the 2015 NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft presented by DraftKings on Friday, Jan. 23. The captains and assistant captains also will set their team rosters for the 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Skills Competition on Saturday, Jan. 24.

Team Foligno is designated as the home team and will wear the black Reebok NHL All-Star jerseys, helmets, socks and pants. Team Toews is designated as the visiting team and will wear the white jerseys, helmets and socks, along with black pants.

2015 NHL ALL-STAR GAME COACHES

Peter Laviolette of the Predators and Darryl Sutter of the Kings will serve as the head coaches for the 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Game.

Under the All-Star selection process, the head coach of the team with the highest points percentage (points earned divided by total possible points) in the NHL through games of Saturday, Jan. 10 – the halfway point of the regular season – earns the right to lead one of the All-Star teams. Laviolette’s Predators recorded a League-leading points percentage of .732 (28-9-4) through that mark in the season.

As head coach of the defending Stanley Cup champion Kings, Sutter earned the right to direct the other All-Star Team.

Laviolette will coach Team Toews, while Sutter will coach Team Foligno.

Laviolette will be making his second career NHL All-Star appearance, having shared coaching duties with

Alain Vigneault for Team Nicklas Lidstrom in their 11-10 win over Team Eric Staal at the 2011 NHL All-Star

Game in Raleigh. Sutter will be making his All-Star debut behind the bench.

2015 NHL ALL-STAR FANTASY DRAFT PRESENTED BY DRAFTKINGS Friday, Jan. 23

8:00 – 9:30 p.m.

Greater Columbus Convention Center (NBCSN, SN, TVA)

Team Foligno captain Nick Foligno (CBJ), along with assistant captains Drew Doughty (LAK) and Patrick Kane (CHI), and Team Toews captain Jonathan Toews (CHI), along with assistant captains Ryan Getzlaf (ANA) and Rick Nash (NYR), will pick the squads during the 2015 NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft presented by DraftKings.

A puck will be flipped to determine which team is awarded the first overall selection, with captains Foligno and Toews, joined by their assistant

captains, alternately drafting the remaining All-Stars through 18 rounds.

Each team will be comprised of three goaltenders, six defensemen and 12 forwards. To ensure the final draft picks are not predetermined due to position requirements, each team’s three

goaltenders must be picked by the end of Round 10 and each team’s six defensemen must be picked by the end of Round 15. One trade per team is

allowed.

The six rookies participating in the 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Skills Competition will be divided by the NHL into two groups of three. At the completion of Round 11 of the 2015 NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft presented by DraftKings, a puck will be flipped again to determine which captain chooses his group of rookies.

* There was no All-Star Game in 1966 because the game was moved from the start of season to midseason. In 1979, the Challenge Cup series between the Soviet Union and Team NHL replaced the All-Star Game. In 1987, Rendez-Vous ’87 – two games between the Soviet Union and Team NHL – replaced the All-Star Game. In 2006, 2010 and 2014, the All-Star Game was not played because of the NHL’s participation in the Olympic Winter Games.
