Note: All applicants must satisfy eligibility requirements of the scholarships, which may not be fully

described below, and must be enrolling in an accredited college, university or technical/trade school in the

upcoming academic year.

Scott F. Barker Memorial Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015 ♦ A Sidney High School senior who will pursue a Bachelor’s degree.

♦ Selection based upon: Academic achievement; financial need; community, religious, and school service; recommendations.

♦ Awards for 2015: Three $1,000 scholarships.

Carol Becker Memorial Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015 ♦ A Botkins High School senior enrolling in a trade school, college or university.

Harry Emley and Mary Joslin Bennett Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ A high school senior who resides in and attends a school within Shelby County and who wishes to study an agriculture major. ♦ A Sidney High School senior who resides within Shelby County. Must be attending adult education, trade school or pursuing a two-year or four-year degree.

Randy Greve Memorial Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ A Botkins High School senior. Preference given to a student pursuing a 2-year vocational or technical program education (secondary consideration to a 4-year degree applicant)

Robert E. Grubbs Foundation Scholarship Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ A Jackson Center High School senior attending adult education or a trade school or pursuing a two-year or four-year degree.

♦ Selection based upon: Financial need, academic ability, community and school service and recommendations. ♦ Award for 2015: Two $500 scholarships.

IUTIS Club Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ A high school senior who participated in the IUTIS Club boys softball program for at least four years. ♦ Selection based upon: Academic achievement, community and school service, and recommendations. ♦ Must be planning to attend a two- or four-year college or university.

♦ Award for 2015: One $500 scholarship.

Donald E. and M. Jane Kemp Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015 ♦ Sidney High School seniors with a high school gpa from 2.5 to 3.5 on a 4.0 grading scale.

♦ Selection based upon (in order of priority): Demonstrated community and school service, financial need, academic ability, and recommendations.

♦ Award for 2015: One $2,000 scholarship, renewable for up to three years.

Kiwanis Club of Sidney Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ Seniors at Sidney High School, Lehman Catholic High School, Sidney Christian Academy or the Upper Valley Career Center who are residents of the Sidney City Schools district.

♦ Selection based upon: Academic ability, school and community service, financial need, recommendations. ♦ Award for 2015: Various scholarship awards totaling $9,000.

Lahrmer Family Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015 ♦ Botkins Local Schools seniors who will pursue a two-year or four-year degree.

♦ Selection based upon: Academic ability, demonstrated community and school service, and recommendations. ♦ Award for 2015: One $1,000 scholarship.

Elaine Laughlin Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ Shelby County high school seniors who have a high school gpa of no less than 3.6 on a 4.0 grading scale. ♦ Selection based upon (in order of priority): Financial need, academic ability, demonstrated community and

school service, and recommendations. ♦ Award for 2015: Two $1,000 scholarships.

Law Student Assistance Fund Application deadline: June 1, 2015 ♦ Students entering their third year of law school.

♦ Graduate of a high school in Shelby County or an abutting county and a permanent resident of Shelby County or an abutting county. Eligible Ohio counties: Auglaize, Darke, Champaign, Logan, Mercer, Miami and Shelby. ♦ Selection based upon: Financial need, above-average law school scholarship, and demonstrated leadership in

undergraduate and law school activities and in community, school and church.

♦ Preferential consideration given to applicants who are married and have children and those who indicate a desire for the general practice of law in a rural or county-seat setting.

♦ Award for 2015: One $3,000 scholarship.

Layton Family Foundation Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ Shelby County resident who is a U.S. citizen and attends high school in Shelby County.

♦ Applicants must be a first generation student (neither parent has a bachelor’s degree or higher) and maintains a high school gpa not less than 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and who will be enrolling as a full-time student at a trade school, college or university in the coming year.

♦ Selection based upon: Academic ability, an essay, and recommendations. ♦ Award for 2015: One $1,000 scholarship.

Dr. Edward and Anne Link Fund Application deadline: June 1, 2015

♦ Shelby County residents maintaining a college gpa of not less than 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale and are pursuing a major in visual arts, performing arts, or creative writing toward a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree. Applicants must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education. No recipient may be awarded this scholarship more than once.

♦ Selection based upon: Academic ability, demonstrated community and school service, and recommendations. ♦ Award for 2015: One $2,500 scholarship.

Kyle R. Magoto Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ Russia High School graduating seniors who have a high school gpa not less than 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale and who will pursue an Associate’s or a Bachelor’s degree as a full-time student. Applicants must have participated in no less than five (5) athletic seasons throughout high school.

♦ Selection based upon: average academic achievement, financial need, extracurricular school activities, demonstrated church and community service, and recommendations.

♦ Award for 2015: One $500 scholarship, renewable for an additional year.

McColloch-Baker Insurance Agency Scholarship Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ High school seniors who attend Piqua High School or the Upper Valley Career Center and wish to pursue an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree. Students must have maintained a high school gpa of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. ♦ Selection based upon (in order of priority): Financial need, academic ability, community and school service, and

recommendations

♦ Awards for 2015: One $1,000 scholarship for a Piqua High School senior and one $1,000 scholarship for an Upper Valley Career Center senior.

Medical & Health Professions Scholarship Fund Application deadline: June 1, 2015

♦ Graduates of high schools within Shelby County or residents of any public school district within Shelby County pursuing a certificate or an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in medical and health professions. Eligible persons may apply during any year of their education.

♦ Selection based upon (in order of priority): Financial need; academic ability; demonstrated community and school service, and recommendations.

♦ Must have a cumulative gpa of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. Individuals who have not been enrolled in high school or a post-secondary program within the last two years need not comply with this requirement. ♦ Awards for 2015: Two $1,200 scholarships.

Dave Mielke Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ A Botkins High School senior who has been a member of the school’s Cross Country and/or Track teams for not less than two seasons.

♦ Selection based upon: academic achievement, community or school service, and recommendations. ♦ Award for 2015: One $1,000 scholarship.

Catherine Moloney Nursing Scholarship Fund Application deadline: June 1, 2015

♦ A Shelby County resident pursuing a Registered Nursing degree. Eligible persons may apply during any year of their education; however, licensed RN’s are not eligible for continuing education.

♦ Selection based upon: Financial need; academic ability; demonstrated “empathy which is necessary, the compassion which is required, and the requisite patience in order to enjoy and devote oneself to a long and fruitful nursing career.”

♦ Award for 2015: One $1,000 scholarship.

Clair and Jeanne Naveau Family Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ A Russia High School senior with a cumulative gpa of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale pursuing a four-year degree in the coming academic year.

♦ Selection based upon (in order of priority): academic ability, financial need, community and school service, and recommendations.

♦ Awards for 2015: One $1,000 scholarship.

Heidi Norris Fund Application deadline: June 1, 2015

♦ Auglaize, Shelby or Mercer County residents majoring in Respiratory Therapy or a closely related field who have completed sufficient college coursework to surpass ‘Freshman’ status, have maintained a college gpa of not less than 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale, and who are pursuing an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree. ♦ Selection based upon: Financial need, academic ability, demonstrated community and school service, and

recommendations.

♦ Award for 2015: One $850 scholarship.

Mary E Patterson Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015 ♦ A Houston High School graduating senior.

Ratermann Insurance Agency Scholarship Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ A Fort Loramie High School senior who wishes to pursue an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree. Students must have maintained a gpa of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

♦ Selection based upon (in order of priority): Financial need, academic ability, community and school service, and recommendations.

♦ Award for 2015: One $1,000 scholarship.

William A. Ross, Jr., Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ High school seniors who are Shelby County residents and attend Sidney High School or Lehman High School and wish to pursue a Bachelor’s degree.

♦ Selection based upon: Financial need, academic ability, community and school service, recommendations, and quality of the application

♦ Awards for 2015: $1,000 in scholarships for seniors at each Sidney High School and Lehman High School. Ruese Insurance Agency Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ High school seniors who attend Sidney High School, Christian Academy School, or Lehman Catholic High School and wish to pursue an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree. Students must have maintained a gpa of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Robert & Thelma Sargeant High School Senior Scholarship Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ Fairlawn High School seniors may apply. Open enrollment students must have attended at least two years in the school district. Must be attending adult education, an accredited trade school or pursuing a two-year or four-year degree.

♦ Selection based upon: Financial need; academic ability; community and school service; recommendations. ♦ Awards for 2015: Several $1,000 and/or up to $2,000 scholarships totaling $12,000.

Robert & Thelma Sargeant Past Graduate/Adult School District Resident Scholarship Application deadline: June 1, 2015

♦ Past graduates or current adult residents of the Fairlawn School District may apply.

♦ Selection based upon: Financial need; academic ability; community and school service; recommendations. Must be attending adult education, an accredited trade school or pursuing a two-year or four-year degree.

♦ Awards for 2015: Several $1,000 and/or up to $2,000 scholarships totaling $16,000.

Herbert H. & Antoinette V. Schlater Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ A parent must be employed by either Sidney Electric Co. or Area Energy & Electric for a minimum of two years prior to January 1, 2015.

♦ Preference is given to a graduating high school senior; however, an older student may apply. Must have a cumulative gpa of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. This requirement will not apply if the applicant has not attended high school or a post-secondary college within the last two years. Must be attending adult education, an accredited trade school or pursuing a two-year or four-year degree.

♦ Selection based upon: Financial need; academic ability; community, religious, and school service; recommendations.

♦ Awards for 2015: One $2,500 to a Sidney Electric Co. employee’s child and one $2,500 scholarship to an Area Energy & Electric employee’s child.

♦ Botkins Local Schools seniors who will pursuing education at a trade school, college or university. ♦ Selection based upon: Financial need, academic ability, demonstrated community and school service, and

♦ Award for 2015: Three $500 scholarships.

Tom and Sandy Shoemaker Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ Southeastern Local Schools seniors with a gpa between 2.5 and 3.5 who reside in the district and will pursue a two-year or four-year degree.

♦ Selection based upon: Demonstrated community and school service, academic ability, and recommendations. ♦ Award for 2015: One $1,000 scholarship. and one $500 scholarship. Each is renewable for one year.

Sidney High School Alumni Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015 ♦ Sidney High School seniors and past graduates.

♦ Selection based upon: Financial need; academic ability; community, religious, and school service;

recommendations. Must be attending adult education, an accredited trade school or pursuing a two-year or four-year degree.

♦ Awards for 2015: One $500 to a Sidney High School senior and one $500 to an alumnus.

William B. and Bonnie Z. Swonger Nursing Scholarship Fund Application deadline: June 1, 2015 ♦ A Shelby County resident who is a graduate of (or is about to graduate from) any high school within Shelby

County and is pursuing a Registered Nursing degree. Eligible persons may apply during any year of their education, however licensed RN’s are not eligible for continuing education.

♦ Selection based upon: Financial need and academic ability. ♦ Award for 2015: Three $1,000 scholarships available.

William and Patsy Zorn Veterans Scholarship Fund Application deadline: March 12, 2015

♦ Public high school seniors in Shelby County, Ohio who will attend a four-year college or university (excluding Wright State University). Must have a gpa of no less than 3.5 on a scale of 4.0.

♦ Must have a parent, step-parent, grandparent, full or half-sibling who is active military or a veteran of the US military, with a preference to those related to a member of the US Air Force.

♦ Selection based upon (in order of priority): Academic ability, demonstrated community and school service, and recommendations.

♦ Award for 2015: One $1,000 scholarship.
