by all. Some verses are more familiar than others and have become favorite verses to many. They are familiar to us because they present truths which are fundamental to Christianity. Because of this, we find ourselves returning over and over again to them. This booklet contains 105 of these familiar verses. Everyone will find them to be profitable. They are truly Bible verses everyone should know.

-Memory groups will meet weekly to recite each assignment. The booklet contains selected Bible verses arranged in 15 assignments with seven or eight verses to be memorized each week. The assignment number and Bible reference should be memorized and recited with each assignment.

Those who prefer a shorter assignment may memorize the three verses in each assignment which are marked with the symbol: ~, in this booklet.

There is a companion book for small children containing one verse per week. The verses found in the children’s book are marked in this book by the symbol: c.

Assignment 1

Genesis 1:1

c~ In the beginning God created

the heaven and the earth.

Numbers 6:24-26

24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: 25 The LORD make his face

shine upon thee,

and be gracious unto thee:

26 The LORD lift up his countenance

upon thee,

and give thee peace.

Deuteronomy 6:4-5 ~ 4 Hear, O Israel:

The secret things

c~ Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,

Isaiah 40:31

~ But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength;

they shall mount up with wings as eagles;

Isaiah 53:6

Isaiah 55:8-11

among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee

shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Assignment 5 Matthew 1:21 c~ And she shall bring forth a son,

and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people

from their sins.

Matthew 6:33

~ But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness;

and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 11:28-30

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour

and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you,

and learn of me;

for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest

unto your souls.

Assignment 7 John 13:34-35

34 A new commandment I give unto you,

That ye love one another; as I have loved you,

that ye also love one another.

35 By this shall all men know

that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

John 14:6 c~ Jesus saith unto him,

I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 15:5

~ I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Acts 1:8

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them,

because they are spiritually discerned.

2 Corinthians 5:17 c~ Therefore if any man be in Christ,

2 Corinthians 8:9

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich,

Galatians 2:20

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live;

Galatians 5:22-23 ~ 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is

love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Ephesians 2:8-10 c~ 8 For by grace are ye saved

Ephesians 4:32

Philippians 1:6

Assignment 11 Colossians 3:16-17

16 Let the word of Christ

dwell in you richly in all wisdom;

teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns

and spiritual songs,

singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed,

do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God

and the Father by him.

2 Timothy 1:12

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded

that he is able to keep

that which I have committed unto him against that day.

2 Timothy 2:15 c~ Study to shew thyself

approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 ~ 16 All scripture is given

by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,

for correction,

for instruction in righteousness:

~ 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished

unto all good works.

Titus 3:5

Not by works of righteousness which we have done,

but according to his mercy he saved us,

by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.

Hebrews 4:12 ~ For the word of God is quick,

and powerful,

and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit,

and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Hebrews 4:16

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 7:25 ~ Wherefore he is able also

to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth

to make intercession for them.

But without faith

it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is,

and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Hebrews 12:1-2

1 Wherefore seeing we also

are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin

which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

2 Looking unto Jesus

the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross,

despising the shame,

and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 13:8 c~ Jesus Christ the same yesterday,

Assignment 13 James 1:17

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights,

with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

James 1:22 c~ But be ye doers of the word,

and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

1 Peter 1:3-5

3 Blessed be the God and Father

of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according

to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope

by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4 To an inheritance incorruptible,

and undefiled,

and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
