> UTA ECHOS

Ductable direct expansion fan coil unit

(3)

GENERALlTY

Units for applications of residential and commercial type, characterised by reduced dimensions and easy installation equal to a valve convector. Due to their reduced dimensions they are particularly indicated for installations in false ceiling with ducting or air emission directly in rooms.

The air treating units are available in the following constructive versions: • UTA ECHOS direct expansion unit

• UTAH ECHOS heat pump unit

The UTA-UTAH ECHOS versions are complete with gas load inlet, thermostatic valve, inlet plug connection attachments with precarious refrigeration tap . The installation is made easier by the possibility to have (upon request) both the connections on the right side and the fan air flow downwards or upwards. The UTA-UTAH ECHOS versions are coupled with motocondensing unit functioning with R410A chiller. (Epsilon Echos /LE, Epsilon Echos /LE /HP, Mu Echos /LE, Mu Echos /LE/HP; coupling with Epsilon Echos /LE, /LE /HP is defined SPLIT SYSTEM ECHOS).

TECHNICAL FEATURES

UTA ECHOS - UTAH ECHOSl unit STRUCTURE

In models 8-18, the structure is made up in galvanised sheet with internal thermo acoustical coating in flexible polyurethane with open cells (density 30 kg/m3), flame retardant in class F1. In models 25-41, the structure is made of a frame realised in anodised aluminium borders, coupled with aluminium angular joints. The closing panels are made with galvanised sheet with internal thermo acoustical coating in flexible polyurethane with open cells (density 30 kg/m3), flame retardant in class F1.

CONDENSE COLLECTING TANK

It is made with galvanised sheet, with the outlets located on both sides of the unit in models 6-18. FANS

In models 8-18 they are forward bend blade centrifugal, coupled three speed single phase, with direct dragging through splined electric motor on the fans shaft, whereas in models 25-41 a centrifugal fan with forward bend blades coupled with an electric motor through belt/pulley transmission is mounted; high prevalence for centralised installation with ducts; the rotors are balanced both statistically and dynamically to reduce to a minimum vibrations and noise; for the models 6-18 and upon request, they can be mounted with air flow upwards or downwards (see dimensional layouts).

CONDITIONING COIL

Made with copper pipes and aluminium flanges, is provided with condense collecting tank; in the direct expansion versions

(UTA/UTAH Echos) it is complete with thermostatic valve and by-pass with check valve only in “heat pump” version (UTAH Echos). AIR FILTER Made with flame retardant synthetic fibres in class F1; maximum separation degree 85% ASHRAE 52-76 Atm (G3 compliant to EUROVENT 4/5).

FANS’ PERFORMANCES

The nominal air capacities to which the performances of the units UTA ECHOS / UTAH ECHOS and UTW are supplied, refer to the available statistic pressures (at maximum fan speed) as summarised in the table.

The capacity/prevalence bend features show the effective performances of the units, comprehensive of the internal load losses of the equipment; they refer to clean coils and air filters.

The crossing between the bends characteristic of the unit with the capacity/ load loss square bend of the plant, determines the functioning air capacity.

The capacity/prevalence characteristic bend do not take into account the eventual load losses of the optional hot water coil, which load losses are illustrated in the graph below.

To calculate the yield with air capacity conditions different from the nominal one, refer to the correction factors indicated on page 21. EXAMPLE:

Let us suppose wanting to obtain the useful static prevalence of the UTA ECHOS 8 unit with an air capacity of 0.35 m3/s and with hot water coil (load loss 11Pa); as highlighted by the performances bend, the useful static prevalence at the three speeds is:

MAX speed: 192 - 11 = 181 Pa AVERAGE speed: 150 - 11 = 139 Pa MIN speed: 41 - 11 = 29 Pa

CORRECTION FACTORS

The above indicated bends of the correction factor of the total, sensitive and load loss yield depending on the variation of the air capacity, refer only to the UTW units, at the following functioning conditions:

• Input air temp.: 26 °C BS 19 °C BU • Input/output water temp.: 7/12 °C EXAMPLE:

Let us suppose to want to obtain the total, sensitive cooling yield and load loss of unit UTW 36 with an air capacity of 0.455 m3/s. From the table on page 4 the following values can be read: total yield: 10.4 kW, sensitive yield 7.6 kW, load loss 18 kPa.

The nominal air capacity: 0.542 m3/s. Requested capacity value expressed in % respect to the nominal capacity value: (0.455/0.542) x 100 = 84 %. From the above indicated bends the values of the corrective coefficients corresponding to the new capacity value are obtained:

84% ~> pc tot yield = 0.90; pc sen yield = 0.88 ~> pc load loss = 0.82

The new values will be:

total yield = 10.4 x 0.90 = 9.4 kW sensitive yield = 7.6 x 0.88 = 6.7 kW

DIGITAL ROOM THERMOSTAT

(option)

It is of electronic/digital type and allows to control the temperature both in summer and in winter, making more functions of the “control thermostat (electromechanical)” available, also thanks to the intuitive digital display.

This accessory is made up of the three following components: LCD TERMINAL

Allows the user to set the MasterAria functioning and display the alarms. The LCD display makes its use easy and intuitive. Also contains an NTC probe which can be used to carry out the adjustment of the room temperature.

Operates the fan and adjusts the temperature. Allows connection of digital inputs for remote control functions such as ON /

OFF switch, summer / winter economy (see sleep function) etc.. It has, through its accessory, a serial port for networking of multiple units (supervisory system). It allows you to manage actuators ON / OFF (valve resistance, damper) and requests for hot and cold water to the chiller and heat pump / boiler.

FUNCTIONING MODE

COOLING (SUMMER)

Once the device has been switched on, by pressing the ON/OFF button, you must:

• repeatedly press the MODE button until the summer symbol switches on (snow flake-cooling);

• set the set point (desired temperature) using the UP and DOWN buttons;

• repeatedly press the fan button to choose the desired ventilation speed; in case of selecting the AUTO mode, the

speed is decided by the electronic control depending on the gap from the desired temperature (the higher the gap, the

faster the speed). If the COOL ENABLE function is active, the fan activates only if the temperature of the coil is

sufficiently low, in order to avoid unpleasant flows of hot air. If this condition is not satisfied, the cooling symbol (snow

flake) flashes.

HEATING (WINTER)

Once the device has been switched on, by pressing the ON/OFF button, you must:

• repeatedly press the MODE button until • switch on of only the winter symbol (sun-heating) or winter symbol with

resistance, if installed (*). In this latter case, the electric resistance is also used as source of heat;

• set the set point (desired temperature) using the UP and DOWN buttons;

• repeatedly press the fan button to choose the desired ventilation speed; in case of selecting the AUTO mode, the

speed is decided by the electronic control depending on the gap from the desired temperature (the higher the

gap, the faster the speed). If the HEAT ENABLE function is active, the fan activates only if the temperature of the coil

is sufficiently high, in order to avoid unpleasant flows of cold air. If this condition is not satisfied, the heating symbol

(sun) flashes. In case the electric resistance is installed (marked by the relative symbol on the display) the ventilation

carries on for 20 sec even after its deactivation. Such timing is respected also in case of switch off of the ON/OFF

button.

(25)

DEHUMIDIFICATION

Once the device has been switched on, by pressing the ON/OFF button, you must:

• repeatedly press the MODE button until the dehumidification symbol switches on (drops);

• set the set point (desired temperature) using the UP and DOWN buttons;

• repeatedly press the fan button to choose the desired ventilation speed; in case of selecting the AUTO mode, the fan

turns at minimum speed. The fan activates only if the temperature of the coil is sufficiently low, in order to avoid

useless flows of hot and humid air. If this condition is not satisfied, the “dehumidification” symbol flashes. MasterAria

starts in cooling mode in order to bring the room temperature near the set point (set point +3 °C) using the set speed,

therefore it carries out switch on/off cycles of the fan at minimum speed to remove humidity.

VENTILATION

Functioning mode can be deactivated by setting parameter 38 equal to value 8. Such mode can be useful to circulate

the air in the room. In such case, set the minimum opening of the external shutter (parameter 119 > 0%). Once the

device has been switched on, by pressing the ON/OFF button, you must:

• repeatedly press the MODE button in order to only leave the fan symbol active (in the lower part of the display) and

the relative speed bar.

• repeatedly press the fan button to choose the desired ventilation speed; in case of selecting the AUTO mode, the

speed is fixed at average value.The fan activates only if the room temperature is between the temperature

range 15-35°C, in order to avoid unpleasant flows of hot or cold air.

AUTOMATIC

Once the device has been switched on, by pressing the ON/OFF button, you must:

• repeatedly press the MODE button until the AUTOMATIC symbol switches on;

• set the set point (desired temperature) using the UP and DOWN buttons;

• repeatedly press the fan button to choose the desired ventilation speed; in case of selecting the AUTO mode, the

speed is decided by the electronic control depending on the gap from the desired temperature (the higher the gap, the

faster the speed). The functioning mode (heating or cooling) is decided by the electronic control depending on the gap

from the desired temperature: if the room temperature is higher than the set point, the control carries out the cooling

function, whereas if it is lower, the heating function is carried out. The fan activates only if the temperature of the coil is

adjusted to carry out the heating or cooling functions.

(26)

___________________________________________________________________________________________

SLEEP

This function is particularly useful during night-time, when the decrease in the body temperature (due to sleep)

changes the perception of the room temperature. In the cooling mode (summer) the set point is increased by 2°C the

number of hours specified on the display, at the end of which, MasterAria returns to the previous functioning (the sleep

function is deleted). In the heating mode (winter) the set point is decreased by 2°C. To change the values of increase

and decrease the set point to contact the service.

To set this function:

• switch on the device using • the ON/OFF button and select the functioning mode;

• repeatedly press the “clear” button until setting the desired number of hours for the function to last. In case it is

necessary to remove the function, press the “clear” button again after having waited 3 sec. from the last time it was

pressed, or repeatedly press the same button until the maximum number of hours is exceeded, which is 9.

REMOTE LOCK

Can be activated with micro switch 3 = ON.

When the padlock remote lock symbol is present, the functioning mode is fixed on AUTOMATIC (with resistance, if

installed) and the user can: switch on/off the unit, amend the set point and set the fan speed. The other functions are

not available.

PRACTICAL INSTALLING RECOMMENDATIONS

POSITIONING

- Carefully observe the space requirements indicated in catalogue.

- Verify that there are no obstructions on the suction of the louvered coil and on the fans flow.

- Position the unit in order to reduce to a minimum the environmental impact (sound emission, integration with present

structures, etc.).

ELECTRIC CONNNECTIONS

- Always consult the attached electric layout, where all necessary instructions to carry out the Electric connections are

reported.

- Power the unit (by closing the sectioning device) at least 12 hours before start-up, to allow the powering of the carter

resistances. Do not remove voltage from the resistances during brief periods of time of unit stop.

- Before opening the sectioning device, stop the unit by acting on the appropriate start switches, or in absence, on the

remote control.

- Before accessing the internal parts of the unit, disconnect by opening the main sectioning device.

- The power supply line must be protected in compliance with that provided in the regulations in force.

- Electric connections to be carried out: three polar power cable + earth, or three polar cable + neutral+ earth; external

consent; remote alarm report.

HYDRAULIC CONNECTION

- Accurately remove the hydraulic plant, with pumps switched off, by acting on the small vent valves. This procedure is

particularly important in that, even the smallest air bubbles can cause the evaporator to freeze.

- Discharge the water plant during the winter breaks or use appropriate antifreezing mix. In case of brief period of time

of unit stop, the installation of the anti-freeze resistance on the evaporator and on the hydraulic circuit is

recommended.

- Realise the hydraulic circuit including the components indicated in the recommended layouts (expansion tank, flow

switch, storage tank, vent valves, shut-off valve, anti vibration joints, etc. See use installation and maintenance

manual.

- Connect the flow meter in the units for which it is supplied, carefully following the instructions attached to the same

unit.

START-UP AND MAINTENANCE

- Carefully keep to that indicated in the use and maintenance manual. Such operations must be carried out by

qualified staff.
