Job Purpose
To raise the profile, including the online presence of Qatar Charity UK (QCUK) and to support the achievement of the organisation’s fundraising strategy and income generation targets.
Working with QCUK’s UK Director the Social Media and Digital Communications Manager will have the opportunity to create content, marketing collateral, and manage social media and web operations for an emerging charity which is aiming to become the digital leader in the sector.

Qatar Charity UK (QCUK) registered as a charity in England and Wales no: 1146597 is an independent not-for Profit organisation, founded in 2012 its main aims are to support and assist the most deprived and disadvantaged in communities across the UK. Based in central London, the focus is to promote education, social mobility, social enterprise projects and interfaith dialogues across the United Kingdom.
Qatar Charity UK (QCUK) has a long term strategic partnership agreement with Qatar Charity (Qatar) which is also a non-governmental organization based in Doha, Qatar, informally established in the 1980s and formally established in 1992 that works to support the neediest communities in over 60 countries throughout Africa, Asia and Europe. From its 20 field offices, it enables communities to maintain their dignity, and to achieve social justice through the following areas of intervention: childhood education, cultural development, health, food and nutrition, water and sanitation, economic empowerment, social welfare, disaster preparedness and response and housing.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Digital content
To take an overview of website content, ensuring that it is up to date, accessible, engaging and optimised for SEO
To write, commission, edit and proof content for our website and social media channels
To be proactive in working with individuals from other departments to generate diverse, compelling digital content that engages and informs our audiences
To oversee audio-video content, commissioning film from freelance video producers, advising on edits, and working on the production of audio
To keep on top of new and innovative ways to present our digital content – proposing ways that QCUK’s could continue to develop its content in line with changes in digital trends and audience preferences
To develop online editorial guidelines and processes
To train and support staff in the use of our Drupal content management system
To write and send our weekly email/newsletter update once every three weeks
To ensure that the site is well integrated and optimised for user experience with third party services, for example, email and events booking systems
To act as the senior point of contact with the agency that carries out our pay-per-click work
Communication and Social media
To research and assess trends in social media to ensure the QCUK is meeting the changing needs and preferences of our donors and supporters
To train and support staff across the QCUK in use of social media
To take the lead on social media monitoring, ensuring we are using the most appropriate tools to evaluate the impact of our work
To take responsibility for basic weekend social media monitoring on a rotating basis (usually one week in every three)
Website project management
To act as the key point of contact with external suppliers to implement continual improvements to the site
To project manage major site developments including budget management, management of relationships with external stakeholders and engagement with Fund staff and customers
To manage the hosting arrangements for the website, and related applications, with external suppliers
People management
To line manage the Digital Communications Assistant
To coach, advise and share information with the wider business on digital communications
Budget
To oversee expenditure for audio and video production, day-to-day web maintenance and budgets for projects as required, signing off invoices, reporting financial tracking to the Head of Digital Communications and flagging emerging over- and under-spend.
Wider communications
To act as a communications lead for the directorate on defined projects. This role requires an understanding of messaging and audiences, co-ordination across the communications functions to develop and track communications plans and liaison with project leads in other departments
To give strategic input to the use of digital in communications work
To support wider communications activity across the QCUK
To provide editorial support as required
Provide representational support to senior management (e.g. preparing presentations, speech writing) at relevant industry events
Assist with the promotion and management of QCUK events to promote greater understanding of the organisation and its work amongst donors, media and external stakeholders

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Desirable
Qualifications Degree level or equivalent preferably within a relevant discipline, e.g. Communications, IT, journalism.
Digital Marketing Qualifications
Experience
At least 3 years’ experience within a digital communication role
Proven experience working in an editorial capacity with a varied portfolio of written work Proven experience of website content management
Demonstrable experience of
branding and core design principles Proven experience of designing graphic content for desktop, tablet and mobile devices
A successful track record of charity branding across multiple digital platforms
Experience of creating compelling content
Track record in developing digital content that is optimised for search engines
Knowledge
An understanding of current and emerging web technologies and social media trends
A solid understanding of storytelling and how to create a compelling digital campaign
Demonstrable experience of managing, influencing or advising operational managers/staff on the digital communications matters Significant experience of developing and delivering digital communications projects
An up to date knowledge and understanding of existing and emerging technologies and their
Working knowledge of additional languages e.g. Arabic, French or Spanish
application to communications activity
Experience of working across a multi-functional organisation
Skills and attributes
Skills in social media tools such as Hoot Suite and Canva
Experience with Adobe Suite- Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign Excellent oral, copywriting and communication skills
Ability to communicate technical details to non-technical people Highly developed interpersonal skills including, communication,
