D. ADDITION OF REQUIRED COURSE(S)

Recommended Course Requirement: EET 270, Photovoltaic (PV) Systems Rationale to Support Change:

The AAS Engineering Technology programs must periodically revamp their curriculum to stay current with emerging technologies and skill sets. This course, Photovoltaic (PV) Systems, will replace the Fiber Optics Communication course (EET 265) in the Electronics Electromechanical Engineering Technology (EEET) program. The course also adds a “Green Technology/Sustainability” technical elective to all engineering technology programs.

E. DELETION OF REQUIRED COURSE(S)

Recommended Course Deletion: EET 265 Introduction to Fiber Optic Communications Rationale to Support Change:

The core content and skill set of EET 265 is no longer in great demand among employers. The course is be replaced by one which betters serves the need of the employers and EET students.

I. RECOMMENDED SEQUENCE

Current Recommended Sequence: EET 211 in 2nd year 1st semester

EET 270 in 2nd year 2nd semester

Proposed Recommended Sequence: EET 211 in 2nd year 2nd semester EET 270 in 2nd year 1st semester

Rationale to Support Change: Deletion of EET 265, addition of EET 270. The courses EET

270 and EET 213 shared common topics as do the courses EET 211 and EET 204. Offering the courses in this sequence permits an active sharing of theory and application

Part III

ATTACHMENTS:

X Department Approval. Attach email from department chair indicating department review and approval of the program revision proposal.

X Degree Requirements. Not required for program name or catalog description changes. Provide an outline of the curriculum, semester by semester, including a list of the proposed courses and credits per course, including lecture and lab hours. Indicate the total number of credits in the degree program.

X Program Review Grid. Not required for program name, catalog description, or

recommended sequence changes. Provide a Program Review Grid for the applicable degree

(see Curriculum Committee website) that follows the state requirements for General Education. The Program Review Grid must clearly show the courses offered with accompanying credit in each of the General Education Categories: Communications; the Social Sciences; Mathematics, Science, & Technology; and Humanities. The Program Review Grid must also indicate how the diversity course requirement is met.
