INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS
Since 2010, the United States has firmly plant-ed itself among the world’s best hockey nations, capturing a world-leading 30 gold medals and 51 overall medals across Olympic, Paralympic and world championship competition to enter the 2021-22 season.
Additionally, U.S. Men’s and Women’s select teams have combined to add 21 champion-ships and 41 top-three finishes, while the U.S. Women’s National Team and U.S. National Sled Hockey Team have also contributed a collective 16 titles and 22 top-three fin-ishes in inter-national play. In total, since 2010, the United States men’s, wom-en’s and sled national teams have combined for 114 podium finishes in 143 combined tournaments. Among those 114 podium
finishes are 65 championships, 32 runner-up efforts and 17 third-place performances. The U.S. National Junior Team won gold at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship in Edmonton, Alberta, with forward Trevor Zegras (Bedford, N.Y.) taking home tournament MVP honors. After losing its opening matchup, the U.S. won six consecutive games, outscoring opponents 33-5, en route to its gold medal. Zegras led all players in the tournament with 18 points (7-11—18) in seven games. Goaltender
Spencer Knight (Darien, Conn.) set a U.S.
record with three shutouts, including in an
exhil-arating 2-0 win over Canada in the gold-medal matchup.
Most recently, the U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team went 3-1-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) at the 2020 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship to claim a fifth gold medal in the last six years and extend its unprecedented medal streak in tournament play to 13-straight IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championships. The 2020 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World
Championship took place in Bratislava, Slovakia, where the U.S. won three of its four pre-liminary round games to earn the sec-ond seed in Group A and a bye for the quarterfinals. In the semi-finals, the U.S. defeated Russia, 3-0, before using 31 saves from Skylar Vetter (Lakeville, Minn.) and Kiara Zanon’s (Fairport, N.Y.) over-time winner to beat Canada in the gold-medal game.
Most recently, the U.S. Women’s National Team celebrated a Rival Series victory over Canada, highlighted by a sold-out crowd in Anaheim, Calif. The team will be competing in late August in the IIHF Women’s World Championship. USA Hockey continues to prepare for the upcoming 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, set to be hosted in Beijing, China. For news on all U.S. national teams, visit TeamUSA.

USA HOCKEY
MOBILE COACH APP 4.0
Download the latest version of the most popular hockey-coaching app on the market
A FINALIST FOR THE 2018 YAHOO! SPORTS TECHNOLOGY APP OF THE YEAR, USA HOCKEY MOBILE COACH IS BACK FOR ANOTHER SEASON. Since launching in 2012, the app has been downloaded more than 170,000 times on Android and iOS devices, including iPhone and iPad.
With the swipe of a finger, coaches and players have access to practice plans, small-area games, dryland training, plus skills and drills directly from USA Hockey. The latest feature is a desktop companion that allows users to design practice plans on a computer and sync instantaneously to mobile devices.
USA Hockey Mobile Coach also includes a player and goalie tracker, a digital whiteboard and digital versions of the USA Hockey Rulebook, the USA Hockey Annual Guide and American Development Model materials.
“We developed USA Hockey Mobile Coach to provide the vast collection of resources we have available in an easy-to-use, mobile format,” said Mark Tabrum, director of coaching education for USA Hockey. “We’ve long been a leader in coaching education, and this app reflects our desire to remain out front and incorporate the latest technology in our efforts to support, inform and educate coaches nationwide.” All of the app’s content can be shared directly through email, text message and social media platforms, allowing coaches to easily distribute material to players, parents or other coaches.
