(5) Have you found all five garden flags which were recently placed at St. Gerald's? In case you were wondering about these images, the following is a description of a few of the flags: (the rest of the flags will be described in next week’s bulletin). Sacred Heart of Jesus – The heart of Jesus is viewed as a symbol of "God's boundless and passionate love for mankind". The image of Jesus’s heart is bleeding from the wounds of the lance and the crown of thorns which encircles His heart. A cross is above the heart. Flames come from the heart and represent the transformative power of divine love. One of many saints who were devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, was St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. This year, the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is Friday, June 11. Divine Mercy Jesus – St. Maria Faustina Kowalski received revelations from Jesus about the Divine Mercy image and its meaning. In the image, Jesus is clothed in a white garment. His right hand is raised in a blessing. His left-hand touches in the area of His Heart, from where two large rays come forth, one red and the other pale. These rays denote the blood and water which poured out from the wounded heart of Jesus after he died on the cross. The water makes souls righteous. The blood is the life of souls. On April 20, 2000, St. Pope John Paul II established the feast day of Divine Mercy, which was also the same date of canonization of Saint Faustina. Since then, the Feast of Divine Mercy is on the Sunday after Easter. This year it was April 11, 2021. Saint Joseph Patron of the Universal Church – Pope Pius IX proclaimed St. Joseph the patron of the Universal Church in 1870. St. Joseph was a virtuous, faithful, humble, and honest man. He had many trials, but he always protected and provided for the Holy Family. The intercession of St. Joseph in heaven can help protect the Catholic church. Pope Francis has proclaimed 2021 as the year of Saint Joseph. Ralston, Nebraska. Rest In Peace Please pray for the repose of the souls of Annunciata (Nancy) Palma and Tracy Rabb, brother of parishioner Andy Rabb. May their souls and all of the souls of the faithfully departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. We need help with cleaning the parish office! We are one body, many parts! Do you have a gift of service or know someone who does? Specifically, we are in need of someone to clean the parish office. This would include dusting, vacuuming, bathrooms, trash removal, etc. Cleaning would require 2-3 hours per week and would need to be scheduled for evenings/weekends when the office is closed. This is also a paid service at $15/ hour. If the Lord is calling you, please contact the parish office at 402-331-1955.. WEEKDAY MASSES Mon 4/26. FOR. 6:45am - Chapel. (6) A new service is being offered at St. Gerald’s Catholic Church at 96th and Q St. Audio Description of the Mass for the blind and those with low vision is being of-. fered through Outlook Enrichment and St. Gerald’s. Mass will be described by Mary Underwood. Audio Description involves a spoken narration that guides the listener through the Mass without interfering with the service. It can also include a description of the Church, Crucifix, altar, statues, stain glass windows and so forth. The describer talks into a mouthpiece. The user hears the audio description via a small earpiece. The system is cordless and hands free, so the person attending Mass can sit wherever they are most comfortable. Audio Description will be offered at the 11:00am Mass on Sundays. A reservation date is required. Contact Mary Underwood: 402-658-9536.. Monthly Family Bereavement Support Groups These sessions start at 10:30 a.m. and runs to 11:30 a.m. on the second Saturdays of every month. ZOOM groups will be held for adults, teens, and preteens. Children ages 5-9 will be provided special links/activities but won't meet concurrently. Register here! Please contact Katie and Kristin at [email protected] with any questions or to discuss special needs. Please note: We’re currently providing our support groups via zoom as a precaution and public health measure during the pandemic. After you register, please watch your email for a personal invitation and link to your specific session; it includes a time-sensitive passcode. This is an added security measure for all attendees. As always, all of our support groups are provided free of charge. We hope you'll register and join us.. The JPII Newman Center in Omaha is changing the lives of college students. This Newman Center creates a faith community for students at a time when so many are leaving the Church. Many of these students are venturing out on their own for the first time, away from the watchful eye of their parents, parish priests, and teachers. Especially in these confusing times and with the changes in our culture, there is an urgent need to keep students rooted in their faith. That’s why parishes across the archdiocese are holding a special collection this weekend. College students are not known for being flush with cash. So, your financial support will provide the opportunity for students with common values to continue their faith journey through their college years and will encourage students to be leaders in their future parishes and communities. You can place your donation in the collection basket this weekend or drop them off at the parish office. Also, you can securely give online at jpiiomaha.org/donate. Please join us to remember and honor friends, families, and loved ones on Saturday, May 15th. More than a walk, this time-honored annual event includes outdoor and craft activities for all ages. Proceeds support the children and family programs of The Collective for Hope, and this year we’re celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Ted E. Bear Hollow. The biggest change for the in-person component is the open schedule...feel free to come anytime between 9am-3pm to walk. This will help keep everyone safe and create less of a chance for crowding. Memorial crafts and activities will be available throughout the entire timeframe. ** CDC recommendations will be followed by staff, volunteers and participants alike! We ask that you wear a mask when interacting with our team and volunteers.** Donations are highly encouraged this year, as the registration fee for the Remembrance Walk portion of the event has been waived! Join a team, collect donations, or make a memorial gift! Please contact Kelly if you are interested in volunteer opportunities. She can be reached at [email protected]. To register: thecollectiveforhope.org/fundraising-events-giving/remembrancewalk/ November 8, 2020 April 25, 2021. 36. Welcome Welcome to to St. St. Gerald Gerald Parish Parish.
