Acclipse Web Manager — Adding Links

You can add a link on a page to:

• Another location in your website

• A location in a different website

• A different location in a page

• An email address

Create link within site

To add a link to another location in your site:

1. Open the required page in editing mode.

2. Select the text or image you wish to convert to a link.

TIP: For search engine optimisation you should select text that accurately reflects what you are linking to.

3. Click the arrow beside the Link to this website icon → Select Link to this websiteLink to this websiteLink to this website. Link to this website

4. Locate and select the item on the Web Manager Link window that you wish to link to.

5. Click OKOKOKOK.

Create link to external site

To add a link to a page on another site:

1. Open the required page in editing mode. 2. Select the text you wish to convert to a link.

TIP: For search engine optimisation, select text that accurately reflects what you are linking to.

3. Click the arrow beside the Link to this website icon → Select Hyperlink ManagerHyperlink ManagerHyperlink ManagerHyperlink Manager.

4. Ensure the Hyperlink subtab is selected.

5. Enter or paste the required web address in the URL field.

TIP: You can also click the Hyperlink icon beside the URL field to create a link to a document you have uploaded (if required).

6. Modify the text in the Link Text field that the visitor will click to access the link (if required).

NOTE: If you selected a word on your page before opening the Hyperlink Manager, the word will appear in the Link Text field.

7. Click the arrow beside the Target field → Select a display format for the link. 8. Enter text in the Tooltip field that users will see when they hover on the link.

9. Click the arrow beside the CSS Class field → Select a display format for the linked content.

10. Click OKOKOKOK.

Create link to area in same page

If you have a page with a lot of text or images on it, you can make it easier for visitors to find their way around the page by creating a link from one section of the page to another. The destination link is called an anchor. To create a link within a page:

1. Open the required page in editing mode. 2. Create the anchor:

a. Copy the text you wish to convert to an anchor.

b. Click the arrow beside the Link to this website icon → Select Hyperlink ManagerHyperlink ManagerHyperlink ManagerHyperlink Manager.

c. Select the AnchorAnchorAnchor subtab. Anchor

d. Paste the text in the Name field.

e. Click OKOKOKOK.

3. Link to the anchor:

a. Select the text or image you want to convert to a link.

TIP: For search engine optimisation you should select text that accurately reflects what you’re linking to.

b. Click the arrow beside the Link to this website icon → Select Hyperlink ManagerHyperlink ManagerHyperlink ManagerHyperlink Manager.

c. Ensure the Hyperlink subtab is selected.

d. Click the arrow beside the Existing Anchor field — Select the anchor you have added and wish to link to.

e. Click OKOKOKOK.

Selecting an anchor to link to

Create link to email address

You can create a link on a page that takes users to an email address. To do so: 1. Open the required page in editing mode.

2. Select the text you wish to convert to an email link.

3. Click the arrow beside the Link to this website icon → Select Hyperlink ManagerHyperlink ManagerHyperlink ManagerHyperlink Manager.

4. Select the EEE----mailEmailmail subtab. mail

5. Enter the email address in the field provided. 6. Enter a subject for the email in the field provided.

7. Click the arrow beside the CSS Class field → Select a display format for the email.

8. Click OKOKOKOK.

Edit link

To edit a link:

1. Open the required page in editing mode.

2. Right-click the link you wish to edit → Select PropertiesPropertiesPropertiesProperties.

3. Make the required adjustments.

4. Click OKOKOKOK.

Preparing to edit a link

Remove link

To remove a link you have added:

1. Open the required page in editing mode. 2. Position your cursor on the link.

3. Remove the link using ONE of these methods:

Click the Remove Link icon.

Right-click the link → Select Remove LinkRemove LinkRemove LinkRemove Link.

Click Remove ElementRemove ElementRemove ElementRemove Element on the Tag Inspector row.

Check for broken links

When you change file or target names and move or delete items, some of your links might cease to function. To check for broken links:

1. Select Content ManagerContent ManagerContent ManagerContent Manager → Broken LinksBroken LinksBroken LinksBroken Links.

2. Click ChangeChangeChangeChange beside a link you wish to change → Select the item you wish to link to on the Link Picker

window → Click OKOKOKOK.

3. Click OpenOpenOpenOpen or the required row to view the page containing the link.

4. Click SaveSaveSaveSave if you have made any changes you wish to retain.
