Tips for using Zoom

Clicking on the “Raise Hand” function allows the meeting host to see that you have some- thing to add rather than trying to jump in and talk over one another.

How to raise your hand in Zoom:

1. During a meeting, click on the icon labeled "Participants" at the bottom center of your PC or Mac screen.

**If connecting via a Smart Phone, Tablet, or Computer, please use the Zoom App to be able to access all functions, including raising your hand.

By Phone: Press *9

By Tablet: 1. Click “Participants” 2. Choose “More” at the bottom of the Participants screen 3. Choose “Raise Hand”

2. At the bottom of the window on the right side of the screen, click the button labeled "Raise Hand."

3. Your digital hand is now raised. Lower it by clicking the same button, now labeled "Lower Hand." The same method can be used to raise your hand in a Zoom meeting on a mobile de- vice, simply tap "Raise Hand" at the bottom left corner of the screen. The hand icon will turn blue and the text below it will switch to say "Lower Hand" while your hand is raised.

Lower St Croix Valley Fire Department Calendar Fundraiser Update

By now you should have received your 2021 LSCVFD Community Events Calendar in the mail. A big shout out to our community for the great response with our calendar fund- raiser as donations still continue to trickle in. A significant portion of the donations raised during this event help our depart- ment Dive Rescue team members operate in safer conditions as we continue to update their equipment in the way of dry suits, breathing apparatus and communications technology. We are very appreciative of the support we receive from our neighbors and friends in the Valley community that we so proudly serve.

Hydrant Clearing We would also like to get out our annual appeal for everyone to clear hydrants as we continue through the winter months.

Everyone knows the importance and the time saving during critical emergencies that this task accom- plishes. Please do your part if you have a hydrant adjacent to your property! If

you see someone clearing a hydrant in your neighborhood, be sure to thank them!

It has been reported that there have been issues this winter with mail theft in the City of Lakeland. Please read below for tips to help prevent your mail from being stolen

Mail theft occurs when someone removes or steals any piece of mail (letters, post cards, bags, box- es, parcels, etc.) that does not belong to them. Most often, mail thieves may be looking for cash, credit cards, or checks in the mail. However, they may also be after items of value including bank statements, social security numbers, and other personal ID information (identity theft).

How To Keep Mail Safe When Re- ceiving Mail

Here are some tips on how to pre- vent mail theft from your home or business:

Upgrade to a locking mailbox if you don’t already have one

Collect your mail ASAP following the mail delivery

Never leave your mail in the mailbox overnight or for extended periods of time

Request to Stop Mail Delivery if you will be away for any length of time (use a “Hold Mail” service) Consider installing a security camera (it can be a deterrent as well as a means of gathering evi- dence)

If you are moving, be sure to put in a change of address and advise everyone who sends you mail Never discard important or sensitive mail items in the trash – use a shredder first

How To Keep Your Mail Safe When Sending Mail

Here are some tips on how to prevent mail theft (or at least minimize mail theft) when you are sending mail:

Never mail cash or personal cheques – only send money orders by mail

Don’t leave sensitive mail documents in your mailbox for pick-up – take it in person to your local post office

Try and deposit your mail as close to the mailbox pickup times as possible Use online bill payment options – they can be much quicker and much safer

If you should experience an incident of mail theft you can call 1-800-275-8777 (or 1-800-ASK- USPS) for help. For vandalism, you can file a complaint online with USPS.
