Hello Everyone and happy feast of the Assumption!
Last week the Olympics ended and so today I will continue speaking about my favorite events to watch in the Olympics. First is actually watching archery, the Korean archery team in particular. The Korean archery
team, both the men and women teams, are very dominant. They usually win gold every year. However, there are always thrilling close matches when they play against other countries, which makes the simple yet intense sport of archery exciting to watch. Other sports I like to watch are some of the combat sports such as boxing and taekwondo. I used to watch boxing in general so the Olympic boxing was fun to watch but also
taekwondo was fun to watch because of
their powerful and fast kicks. This concludes my favorite sports to watch at the summer Olympics. I hope everyone that was able to watch the Olympics and had an enjoyable Olympics as this was a year late because of the pandemic.
EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP - RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR ORDINARY MOMENTS WWMD?
WWJD bracelets were all the rage about 25 years ago in Christian circles. I’ve always wondered if a WWMD bracelet might not make just as much sense, and maybe more. What Would Mary Do?
I would argue that Mary was the most exemplary steward who ever lived. Her answer was always “Yes.” Yes, Lord, I am Your handmaiden. Yes, I will visit Elizabeth, and help her in the last difficult months of pregnancy. Yes, I will bring my son up in the Mosaic law and present him at the Temple of Jerusalem. Yes, I will give him to the crowds and to public ministry. Yes, I will offer him on this Cross, if it is Your will.
Yes, yes, yes.
Well, I can’t be like Mary, we think to ourselves. There’s an intimidation factor with the Blessed Mother and Catholics sometimes — one that almost exceeds that of Christ. Perhaps it’s because we are in awe of the fact that she was not divine in any way — she was a mere creation, like us — but somehow, she always had the courage to say
yes. How could she do it, when we find it so hard?
Well, God certainly lavished on Mary extraordinary graces. Her lack of original sin liberated her to conform her will to God’s.
But God is impatient to give us, too, all the graces we need to be a steward in the example of Mary. He’s waiting for us simply to ask. Just as in Adam we died, so in Christ — through Mary — we live.
What can we say yes to today, in Mary’s example?

And Mary said:
“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my Savior for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has
done great things for me and holy is his Name. He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation. He has shown the strength of his arm, and has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he has remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children forever.” Luke 1:46-55 Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary. In her holiness, she was assumed into Heaven, body and soul. These words from the Gospel reading are a prayer that is prayed everyday as part of Evening Prayer in the Liturgy of the Hours. They are beautiful words of what God can do in your life.
This week gather as a family or with friends and each take a turn saying these words aloud but replace all the “my” or “me” with your name. Let Mary show you how God calls you to be holy as well.

The Solemnity Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
August 15, 2021
The first name of this solemnity was the Feast of Mary, Mother of God. Later, its name in the East carried over, the Dormition (or Falling Asleep) of Mary. In the West, it became known as the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
This solemnity celebrates the fact that Mary’s Assumption is “a pledge of the future participation of the members of the mystical Body of Christ in the paschal glory of the Risen Christ.” It shows that the Lord “reserves a munificent reward for his humble Servant because of her faithful cooperation with the divine plan, which is a destiny of fullness, happiness, glorification of her immaculate soul, her virginal body, perfect configuration to her Risen Son” (Directory, no.
180).
Simply put, the dogma of the Assumption states that at the end of her life, the Blessed Virgin Mary was taken, body and soul, into Heaven. Theologically speaking, death is often understood to be a consequence of original sin. Since Mary was conceived without Original Sin, some theologians have wondered if Mary died or if perhaps she was taken into Heaven without experiencing death. The Catechism of the Catholic Church doesn’t answer this question but simply states, “The most blessed Virgin Mary, when the course of her earthly life was completed, was taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven” (no. 974)
Ordinarily, the celebration of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a holy day of obligation for Catholics, but when it falls on a Saturday or a Monday, that obligation to attend Mass is lifted.

Prep Your Children With Scripts To Stay Safe
Role playing with your children is a critical step in keeping them safe from abuse, peer pressure, and other dangerous situations. Prep your children with the language they need to say “stop,” or “no thanks,” or to express any discomfort. Talk through different scenarios with them and have them practice how they would respond in their own words. Arming children with strong, confident responses to uncomfortable situations will help them draw on those words when they need them. Divine Mercy Ministry
Celebrating the Assumption
Dear Blessed Mother,
After the Holy Spirit came to you and the apostles, the church grew with great zeal. As you stepped into your new role “Mother of the Church” you saw both the persecution of that Church as well as the joy of its new members. As the years passed, we lovingly hope that your days were spent in the peace that Jesus left with us.
When your earthly days were finished he sent for you body and soul to be assumed into Heaven. I imagine your excitement at being with your Son again, St. Joseph, and your pleasure at being in heaven with God.
I pray for your intercession and help in growing closer to Jesus. I ask you to help me love Him more. Please, graciously intercede on my behalf, that my loved ones and I may also experience a happy death.

The following is a summary of a statement made by Patrick Kelly, the Knights of Columbus Supreme Knight, regarding legislation being voted on in Congress. “The U.S. House of Representatives recently voted to remove longstanding, bipartisan taxpayer and conscience protections including the Hyde Amendment. The House vote to make taxpayers pay for abortions is both an assault on the dignity of life and contrary to the wishes of most Americans. This year’s Knights of Columbus/Marist polling, affirming over a decade of previous polling data, shows that 58% of Americans oppose the use of taxpayer funding for abortions. We urge the Senate to include the Hyde Amendment and other similar provisions as they undertake the appropriations process and for the full Congress to ultimately pass spending bills that affirm this bipartisan desire of the American public. The Knights remain totally committed to supporting the cause of life. In the past decade, we have donated more than 1,400 ultrasound machines to pregnancy resource centers in all 50 states, and we will continue this and other efforts to build a culture of life.”

Prepare A Sus Hijos Con Lo Que Van A Decir Para Mantenerse A Salvo
