1 Insert the power plug into the power connection (G).

2 Insert the adapter into the plug socket.

The power LED (A) will be lit.

If the Power LED is not lit, check:

- The power supply.

- The connections.

5 Connect the UTP network cable provided to one of

the LAN ports on the router.

Connect the other end of the UTP network cable to the network connection on the PC.

1. Turn the PC off.

2. Connect the cable to the PC.

1. Set the time zone (GMT +01.00).

2. Select the check box for “Enable Daylight Savings”.

3. Select the start date of daylight savings time.

4. Select the end date of daylight savings time.

Tip:

Click “Home” to stop. The settings will then not be saved.

Altering the administrator password

This password is required to alter the modem settings at a later date. Altering the password prevents other people from altering your settings.

1. Enter the old password (“1234”).

2. Enter a new password. Make a note of the new password and store it in a safe place.

3. Re-enter the new password.

4. Click “Apply” to confirm the new password.

: Remember the password.

Tip:

- Use a password which consists of both numbers and letters.

- Use at least 8 characters.

The router settings page (192.168.2.1) is not available.

- Check the IP settings (see appendix A).

No Internet connection.

- Check the functionality and connection of the modem.

- Check the IP settings (see appendix A).

- The wrong Internet Service Provider settings have been used. Check the WAN (Internet)/Internet Service Provider settings.

- Some cable Internet Service Providers require a "Host name”. Check the WAN (Internet)/Internet Service Provider settings. (@home users: Set the Mail Client, SMTP and POP settings to “mail.home.nl”) No network connecting in Windows (network computers are not visible)

- Make sure the TCP/IP protocol and Client for Microsoft Networks have been installed.

- Make sure the workgroup names are the same. If the workgroup name is not known, use the workgroup name MSHOME.

- Give the systems access rights to the network. Enable Windows network sharing and encryption.

You have forgotten the password for the router.

- Reset the device (see appendix B).

Appendix A: Checking the network settings

Windows XP

Your network settings for automatically assigning the TCP/IP address:

a. Click “Start”.

b. Select “Settings”.

c. Select “Network Connections”.

d. Right-click the network adapter which is connected to the modem.

e. Select “Properties”’.

f. Click “Internet protocol”.

g. Click “Properties”.

h. Set the two options to “Automatic”.

i. Close all the windows by clicking the “OK”

buttons. You do not have to restart the computer.

j. Read the “Internet Explorer” chapter.

B) Select “Properties”’.

C) Click “TCP/IP”.

E) Click the “IP Address” tab.

F) Select “Obtain an IP address automatically".

G) Click the “DNS Configuration” tab.

H) Select “Disable DNS”.

I) Click the “Gateway” tab.

J) Make sure the “Gateway” field is empty.

K) Close all the windows by clicking the “OK” buttons. The computer will be restarted.

UK Appendix B: Resetting the default

settings

Carrying out the following will delete all the user settings.

Do this in the following cases:

- If the administrator password is lost.

- If the device no longer reacts after it has been restarted.

- If the settings have been changed often and there is still no connection.

a) Turn off the device.

b) Wait 30 seconds.

c) Press the reset button for 20 seconds. Release the button.

d) Wait until the Power LED (A) goes out and comes back on again.

e) Wait 10 seconds.

f) Configure the necessary settings again Æ 8.
