• Cats Eye (Lehsunia) is the stone of planet “KETU”, the dragon’s tail. KETU is the trunk part of the planet “RAHU”. In Indian astrology, RAHU is said to be a shadow planet. He is the son of “SINHIKA” the daughter of “HIRNYAKASHYAPU”.

• As per Hindu mythology, at the time of “SAAGAR MANTHAN”, the devil “RAHU” managed to drink the immortal fluid “AMRIT” along with holy angels “DEVTAS”. Lord Vishnu became angry and cut his head using his “SUDARSHAN CHAKRA”. But as RAHU managed to drink “AMRIT”, he could not die. As the result the head and the trunk of his body were still alive. Afterwards, these two parts of his body became the shadow planet by the name of “RAHU” and “KETU”.

• These two planets are not there in the solar system. But Indian astrologers consider them to be shadow planets. RAHU and KETU are always placed in 7th house from each other and they always transit in the retrograde position in the horoscope.

• “KETU” is an auspicious planet.

• “KETU” alike SATURN (SHANI) and “RAHU”, is said to be the SORROW of the “KAAL PURUSHA”.

• “KETU” indicates the position of the maternal grandfather of the native. It indicates the black magic, horned animals, death due to the animals with horns, dogs, hen etc. If “KETU” is in the malefic position in the horoscope, the native may suffer the enmities. “KETU” indicates the self-realization, understanding one’s own self, Vedic studies, knowledge, liberation from birth-death cycle, yoga, science etc.

Cat's Eye

Cat's Eye is the gemstone recommended for Ketu; specifically Chrysoberyl cat's-eye. The finest quality is called "milk and honey", as the stone is of the color of honey, with a milky white eye. Avoid dark and particularly black imperfections in this stone (as with most other stones), as wearing such a stone can cause an early demise. The source countries for cat's eyes are India, Burma, Sri Lanka and Brazil.

individuals from epidemics or diseases, from drowning and from enemies, as well as heightening psychic perceptions. Coincidentally it is supposed to bring good fortune to gamblers. Apatitie cat's eye or any other variety of cat's eye may be substituted for Chrysoberyl cat's eye.

Instructions for installation of Cat's Eye

Cat's eye is ideally purchased on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday when the Moon is in the signs of Sagittarius, Pisces, or Aries, or in the constellations (nakshatras) of Ashvini, Mula or Magha. It should be at least 3 carats and of a good color, free of harmful

imperfections. It may be set in a combination of gold, iron and silver or alternatively, in one of them, or platinum. The normal rule that it is mounted in a ring or pendant with an open back to allow the gem to contact the wearer's skin applies. If it is a ring, it must be worn on the small finger of the left hand.

For more empowerment the following short ritual may be performed on a Thursday, any time between two hours after sunset and midnight:

1. Rinse cat's eye ring/pendant in water. 2. Rinse in cow's milk.

3. Rinse again in water.

4. Place on home altar/shrine (or sacred place) before a picture of Ketu or Ketu Yantra. 5. Light incense.

6. Meditate on desired benefit.

7. Chant mantra 108 times: "Om Kaim Ketav Namah Om".

8. Place ring on small finger of left hand, or pendant on chain and around the neck.

Propitiation

Charity: Donate a cat's eye gem, a brown cow with white sports, colored blankets, or a dog to a poor young man on Thursday.

Fasting: On the first Thursday of the waxing moon, especially during major or minor Ketu periods.

Mantra: To be chanted on Thursday at midnight especially during major or minor Ketu periods
