Assessment of Knowledge of University Students about Human Papilloma Virus

INTRODUCTION
A Human papilloma virus is a sexually transmitted viral infection which is spread through skin to skin contact.
There are various types of this infection. A few of that can influence genitalia, mouth, and throat. Its symptoms are
cluster of bumps, genital warts and soreness in a vulva of women, penis of male and anus of both. In most of the cases this is not a severe infection and goes away by own it’s on. But sometimes it is most dangerous and can move
towards severe cancer. Infect, HPV is the combination of different types of infections that is mainly affects the
moist skin surfaces of human body. There is no permanent treatment against this virus but can be minimize its
effect by adopting hygienic measures. The health problems that are caused by HPV can be treated by medical
services. It is most common in females but can also occur in males. That's why every individual should know about
the causes and symptoms of human papillomavirus (1).
The basic objective of present study was the assessment of knowledge of university students about human
papilloma virus.
Statistical Analysis:
Statistical analysis was performed by MS-Excel.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Following questions were asked from the students to estimate their knowledge about human papilloma virus:
1-Human papilloma virus is a disease?

2-Human Papilloma virus is transmitted through?
1. Contact or blood transfusion B) Parents to offspring
3-Who ever suffered from human papilloma virus?

Different questions were asked from the students to estimate their knowledge about human papilloma virus. e.g. How human papilloma virus is transmitted? Either it is viral or bacterial? How it can be treated? etc. Statistical analysis was performed by MS-Excel. The Questionnaire based study revealed an important advancement in current researches.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION:
The Questionnaire based study revealed an important advancement in current researches (2-10). Philip E. Castle,
Delphine Maucort and Cosette M. Wheeler studied that human paplioma virus is greatly associated with cervical
cancer and lesions in the genital tract. They also determined that this disease mostly occurs in the women.
Moreover, Allan Hildesheim and Concepcion Bratti concluded that HPV infection is interlinked with intraepithrlial
lesions and affect the females with less than 25 years.
Following data was collected from students about human papilloma virus. The data given first was collected from
males.

CONCLUSION
It was overall concluded from the present study that human papilloma virus is a viral disease and can affect both
male and female equally.
