Whether you are simply searching for relevant documents in a legal file or a legal professional who manages large‐scale document reviews, you can benefit from the latest technologies for document analytics and visualizations. Sometimes called technology assisted review (“TAR”), analytics helps you find the relevant information quickly and accurately. The tools also allow you to manage, track and automate the workflows in the review process. Scott Foster of FTI Consulting will discuss: 1) How to collectively view, manipulate, and position metadata and content to validate assumptions and set case strategy; 2) Dissect and analyze the file corpus for culling and presumptive coding determinations; and 3) Leveraging content analysis and navigate visualizations of document sets.

SESSION 5: UNCOVERING HIDDEN LIENS/ UCC FILING MISTAKE AVOIDANCE

If you have filed a UCC‐1 financing statement against a borrower and made a mistake in typing in a debtor's name, for example, you would have created a hidden lien that could come back to haunt you after a deal or case has closed. This session will explore the potential discrepancies and industry standards associated with filing UCC Financing Statements in Minnesota and Nationwide. Mandy Dietz and Ryan Baker of Capitol Lien will examine how to avoid filing mistakes, how to identify incorrect information that may cost you, and stress the importance of post verification searches. Some cost saving tips and tricks will also be applied.
SESSION 6: PRACTICAL IDEAS FOR MORE EFFECTIVE PROJECT MANAGEMENT Gabe Kuhfuss, Esq., Project Manager, Tower Legal Solutions Projects come in many shapes and sizes and often present unique challenges to those involved. Gabe Kuhfuss, Project Manager with Tower Legal Solutions, will discuss the fundamentals for making any project a success including: 1) planning for and implementing the most effective processes for accomplishing the goals of the project; 2) methods for dealing with changing circumstances that impact the workflow of the project; and 3) delivering the relevant work product in an efficient and cost effective manner.

So let’s discuss whether you should take on the stress yourself or to pass it on to someone else. We will also give some hints and give real life scenarios on how to prepare for trial. SESSION 9: LEGAL RESEARCH AND WRITING: WHERE DO I START, HOW DO I STOP?

Legal research and writing by paralegals has changed dramatically over the past few years. Frustration is a component we want to minimize. New sources of information are available but are they credible. Wherefore, the aforementioned topic will address how to avoid these legalisms, and address your topic clearly and concisely.

Jessica Kuhl, Robert Half Legal This session will discuss how to keep yourself current and relevant in a constantly changing legal market. You will hear from a panel Jessica Kuhl from Robert Half, as well as a law firm human resources administrator, both of whom review resumes and participate in interviews for their offices. They will provide tips on how to catch the hiring team's eye with a well written resume, as well as offer dos and don'ts for the interview process.
SESSION 11: CANNABIS CURES: MINNESOTA'S LAW AND THE ROAD TO RECOVERY Brandon Borgos Minnesota's pilot medical cannabis program prepares for its July 1st launch. Get educated on the finer points of the law, it's likely not what you think. You'll learn how we got here, how it will function, and where the law is likely to go. By the time you leave, you will be an expert on Minnesota Medical Cannabis! SESSION 12: NETWORKING 101 Jessica Berns, Kathleen Harrell‐Latham and Sarah Stauffer, Tower Legal Solutions Best practices and pitfalls to avoid while networking for both job seekers and those looking to develop professionally. In this session Tower Legal Solutions will de‐mystify the 30 second elevator pitch and illustrate how to achieve success and avoid faux pas.

SESSION 13: COMBINE SKIP TRACING WITH ASSET INVESTIGATIONS TO OBTAIN BETTER RESULTS
Patrick McPherson, Investigations Manager, Metro Legal Services Patrick McPherson, a licensed private investigator with over a decade of skip trace and asset location experience, will teach attendees how to use the best free and proprietary data bases to locate debtors and their assets. Attendees of this seminar will learn how to use the results they receive when skip tracing to make informed decisions about their debtor’s economic health. They will learn to look for assets or the lack of assets while tracking down their debtor. This will help them determine what to except post judgment. Patrick will also explain how to use free federal, state and county databases to obtain critical information about the debtor and their finances. He will reveal his search methods and talk about strategies for locating people and assets.

SESSION 17: DEBUNKING EMPLOYMENT LAW MYTHS

This is a fast‐paced session that sets the record straight regarding several employment law myths in which many employers commonly believe. Topics include the applicability of the National Labor Relations Act to non‐unionized employers, restrictions on employers’ ability to make employment decisions based upon criminal background, the enforceability of non‐competition agreements, dealing with employees and drug use, and others. This session will provide valuable information regarding pitfalls employers should avoid and steps that should be taken to protect their businesses.
SESSION 18: CROSSING PATHS: INTERSECTION OF IMMIGRATION LAW AND OTHER PRACTICE AREAS Marit Gurley, Attorney, Karam & Associations
The presentation will provide an overview of immigration law. Additionally, the presentation will discuss how immigration law may intersect with other areas of practice p, such as criminal law, family law, and employment law.
