− World Cup-related organizations for content about:
− FIFA
− National soccer teams for each participating country
− World Cup athletes

SEARCHING FOR FIFA WORLD CUP CONTENT IN AP
NEWSROOM USING METADATA
SEARCH SYNTAX
In AP Newsroom, you can use the following fields separated by a colon (‘:’) to search for FIFA World Cup
content about a particular topic or topics, such as subject, organization or person. In addition, you can use
term IDs in fielded searches in AP Newsroom. You can also use simple keywords, without field name prefixes,
and sort your results by ‘Relevance’ and the desired time frame.
AP NEWSROOM SEARCH SYNTAX USE TO SEARCH FOR CONTENT TAGGED WITH...

SEARCH TIPS
− For more precise results, it is recommended to use quotation marks whenever your search term
contains a space (searches on a single word do not require quotation marks).
− In AP Newsroom, field names are case-sensitive and must be in all lowercase (for example, you must
use
subject:rather than
Subject:). However, search strings themselves are not case-sensitive.
− In fielded searches, do not include a space between the colon and the search string.
− In AP Newsroom, the default operator is OR. To narrow a search, use the AND operator. Boolean
operators in AP Newsroom must be all uppercase (AND, OR, AND NOT).
− To exclude terms from results, the AND NOT operator may be used. This operator must also be all
uppercase and used in conjunction with AND; for example:
soccer AND NOT "women's soccer".SAMPLE SEARCHES
