8) Read the text below. Then decide whether the sentences 1 to 8 are TRUE (T) or FALSE (F), or if there is not enough information (DS, for "doesn’t say").

Food Habits Teens Have and What Parents Can Do About Them

Experts have lots of reasons to worry about teenager food habits. Obesity has become a major problem in recent years, in the United States as well as in Europe.

As teenagers become more independent, they tend to make the wrong choices. What are their bad habits? More than half of them do not eat breakfast even though it is the most important meal of the day: it helps control weight, mood and school performance. Young people love snack food and usually do not like fruit and vegetables. For them, it seems easier to grab a bag of chips at the supermarket than to pick up apples or oranges. Last, but not least: a study about American young people aged 6-17 has revealed an increase in soft drink consumption. These drinks are full of sugar.

Parents can help avoid these bad food habits. They should recommend eating fast food only once or twice a week. They should also make dinner and healthy food available to their teenagers: fresh produce and cooked meals for instance. Another suggestion: offering water at home instead of buying sodas because it’s cheaper! Parents should also encourage their children to find fun physical activities.

EX: Parents know a lot about food habits. _DS__

1. The causes of obesity include genetic and cultural factors. ______

2. Most young people don't eat in the morning. ______

3. Teenagers like fast food. ______

4. There is a lot of sugar in soft drinks. ______
