SPOOLABLE™ INSTALLATION SEQUENCE
COILED TUBING COMPLETION
SPOOLABLE Completion – Surface Equipment • Surface equipment rig-up comprises coiled tubing and
pressure control equipment generally used for conventional coiled tubing service operations

SPOOLABLE Completion – Well Preparation
• Set bottom-hole seal assembly in existing tubing nipple • Flapper valve (closed) provides a pressure barrier –
opens when locator seal is stung-in
• Back-pressure valve installed in tubing hanger • Nipple down tree

SPOOLABLE Completion – BHA Preparation
• Locator seal assembly (LSA) made-up to coiled tubing with an external connector
• Pump-through pump-off check valve installed on LSA • LSA is long enough to allow required tubing movement

SPOOLABLE Completion – Testing Components • Run required length of coiled tubing until the first GLM
and valve are about to leave the spool
• Make up a test pump and gauge to the valve port and test the valve opening pressure
• Repeat as required by completion design
Fig. 4. Testing a gas lift valve. Testing GLV
SPOOLABLE Completion – Spacing Out
• With locator engaged in the seal assembly the flapper valve will be held open
• Find neutral point and test downhole seals • Prepare to set coiled tubing hanger

SPOOLABLE Completion – Setting the CT Hanger • Tighten the coiled tubing hanger slips and pack-off to the
set position
• Function and pressure test the hanger
• Cut the coiled tubing and control line and rig down the coiled tubing equipment

SPOOLABLE Completion – Control Line Hanger • Control line cut above CT
• Control line is fed through the hanger and hanger is placed on the CT
• Hanger housing is placed over the hanger and made-up to the coiled tubing hanger
• Top of assembly is plugged and tested

SPOOLABLE Completion – Completion Configuration • With the test plug in place rig down the CT equipment and
nipple up the tree
• Retrieve the test plug with slick-line and prepare to turn well to production
