Spanish International Parents Association (SIPA) is a 501(C) non-profit organization that

sup-ports the Spanish International Studies Program. This program begins in elementary school and

continues through high school. SIPA’s goal is to enrich the Spanish cultural education of our

students, teachers and community.

organización de padres sin ánimo de lucro 501 (C)(3) que apoya el Programa Internacional de

Estudios en Español. Este programa empieza en educación primaria (Elementary school) y

continúa a lo largo de la secundaria hasta el bachillerato (Middle and High Schools). El

obje-tivo de la SIPA es enriquecer la educación cultural Española de los alumnos, profesores y la

comunidad.

HISPANIC HERITAGE CELEBRATION

The Hispanic Heritage Committee at Downtown Doral Charter Elementary School is happy to

announce it is time to celebrate our Hispanic Heritage. Our teachers and students have been working hard to create a program that highlights the richness of the Hispanic culture and celebrates the contributions of Hispanics to our society. Please review the calendar below for more information on our upcoming events.

KG – 3rd grade students are participating in district-wide Hispanic Heritage Contests. We wish

them the best of luck. For details, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher.

Hispanic Heritage artistic showcase will be sponsored by SIPA. All students will attend. Thank you to SIPA for providing our students with this culturally enriching experience.

October 14, 2015: K and 2nd grade performances start at 9 am in our school’s dining room. KG and 2nd Grade parents are invited to attend this performance.

October 15, 2015: 1st and 3rd performances start at 9 am in our school’s dining room. First and third grade parents are invited to attend this performance.

October 16, 2015: Preschool Parade of Nations will begin at 8:45 am in the preschool wing. Our food festival will take place from 1:00 pm-3:30 pm in our school’s dining room.

Teachers will be contacting parents with more information on countries of study, food/ beverage donations, class presentations, etc. Parents are needed to set- up/decorate and clean-up food festival booths and serve food during this portion of the event. All parent volunteers MUST be cleared.

We still need assistance in securing a mariachis band for our parade of nations. Please contact Ms. Medina if you have any contacts.

We are looking for creative and enthusiastic students who are passionate about current events, technology, writing and reporting. PART TWO

Below is a sample script of a newscast. You will need to learn the script and have an adult record and create a short video clip (no more than 30 seconds) of you reporting the script. We are looking for enthusiastic reporters, so make sure you shine!
