TEXT H

Gabor

I really like my job. Sometimes I work in the morning and sometimes I work in the evening. I work 5 days a week. I mostly work at the ticket office. I sell all kinds of tickets – single, return and travelcards. My job is never boring. I give people information about times, give maps and make sure all the platforms are safe. I see a lot of people every day – some travel to work, some are tourists.

Patience

I am a medical receptionist. My job isn’t very difficult and the pay is good. I answer the telephone, take messages and make appointments for people to see the nurse or doctor. Every day I see a lot of adults and children with all kinds of health problems. I only work in the morning from 9am to 1pm. Before I finish I tidy up the waiting room and make sure everything is ready for the evening receptionist.

Anjum

My husband and I have a small family business near our house. We usually work 7 days a week. We work long hours for our children’s future. My cousin, Rachid, and my brother-in-law, Abdulkarim, come to help too. We sell all kinds of things, newspapers and magazines. We usually open at 7 o’clock. Every day a lot of people buy things on their way to work. In the afternoon we see many children after school. They always buy a lot of sweets. We never finish the day before 10pm.

Walter

I work shifts – one week very early in the morning, one week late in the evening. There are 10 people in my team. We work for a big company in the city. The boss is very nice and is always happy with my work. I tidy up desks and empty rubbish bins, do the vacuuming and wash floors. In the afternoon I go to college to learn English and computing. I want to become an IT technician next year.
