Advent - A Time for Waiting, Hope and Joy

David’s posterity shall endure forever. His kingship find

its fulfillment in the son of Mary, Jesus the Christ. To

him be glory and praise forever.

The Advent Wreath

4th Sunday of Advent

Light the 1st, 2nd and 3rd purple candle and

the rose candle.

“And this will be a sign for you: you will find an

infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in

a manger.” ~Luke 1:12

Almighty and loving God, soon the whole world will celebrate the birth of your Son

Jesus. May our preparations for this wondrous season remain with us always and

become as much a part of us as our breathing and heartbeat. Then may we say,

“Come, Lord Jesus, we are ready.”

Amen

Oh, come, oh, come, Emmanuel,

and ransom captive Israel.

That mourns in lonely exile here

until the Son of God appear.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel

Shall come to your, O Israel.

This year’s winter solstice is tomorrow, December 21st. “Solstice” comes from two Latin words

which mean “the sun stands still”. After seeming to move away from the Earth for six months,

the sun seems to stop briefly and then begin its return.

As the days slowly begin to get longer, I can start my day by more consciously making God a

part of my planning. A simple prayer can help.

O God, I want to do today whatever it is you want me to do.

St. Michael the Archangel is open daily for public masses and private prayer

8:00 am - 6:00 pm in the Church and Chapel.

The Sunday 7:30 am mass continues to be outside under the pavilion

(weather permitting). Please bring a folding chair.

Throughout 2020, your generous mone-tary and food donations have kept our pantry shelves full. St. Michael’s food pantry is providing 7,700 lbs. of food every week to families in need. We will distribute over 400,000 lbs. of food this year, a 25% increase from last year. This has only been possible due to your generosity, thank you for your support of St. Michael’s Food Pantry. We could not

serve those in need without your support. The food

pantry is currently in need of Spaghetti Sauces, Canned Vegetables/Beans, Jelly and Soups.”
