July 28, 2020Introduction
Over the past several months, SCSD District Leadership has worked hard to
create, and present a reentry plan for St. Charles City Schools during this ongoing pandemic. Those guidelines and recommendations were published on 7/20/2020. Please defer to the district plan for information on the background of this situation. This building specific plan was taken from the district created guidelines in an effort to ensure the safest learning environment possible at Monroe.
Contents of the Plan
1. Arrival and Dismissal 2. Hallways
3. Classroom
4. Lunch and Recess 5. Specials
6. Visitors and Events 7. Nurse Protocols 8. Miscellaneous Items
Arrival and Dismissal
● Arrival: Locations for arrival of
students will remain the same.
○ Walkers and car riders
will arrive via the front entrances. We will use two entrances.
○ Bus riders will enter the
building from the bus lane. All students will have assigned seats on the bus. Busses will unload one bus at a time.
● Dismissal: Car riders will wait in the gym to be dismissed and walkers will
wait in the multi-purpose room. We will use the lower lot (by the gym) to dismiss car riders. The same path will be followed through the parking lot to pick up car riders as last year: drive up the hill leading to Jefferson, make a right-hand turn once you are past Jefferson, drive around to the side of Monroe turning right into the lower lot by the gym, look for the teachers directing traffic and calling students. Busses and walkers will be dismissed as usual.
● Upon entering the building, students must go directly to their classroom.
● Breakfast: will be served “grab-and-go” style. Students who eat breakfast
with us will grab a breakfast as they enter the building and take their meal directly to their classroom to eat. A grab and go station will be set up near the bus entry and at door 12 near the front entry. If a student chooses to eat breakfast they will enter at door 12. Otherwise they will enter door 1. Accommodations will be made for students or classrooms with food allergies as necessary.

○ Do you have a sore throat?
○ Do you have muscle aches/pains?
○ Do you have a new loss of smell or taste?
Any student or staff member answering “yes” to any of the above questions will trigger a temperature check and further evaluation by the nurse. PLEASE assess your child’s health at home every morning. If they are showing any symptoms please do not send them to school for the safety of everyone.
