MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING TRANSFER AGREEMENT

BETWEEN

MOREHEAD STATE UNIVERSITY (MSU) Bachelor of Science in Nursing

AND

KENTUCKY COMMUNITY AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE SYSTEM (KCTCS) Associate in Applied Science in Nursing

The Kentucky Community and Technical College System and Morehead State University, in

order to promote the transfer of credits between two institutions and thereby increasing

educational opportunities for the students of KCTCS, establish this Transfer Agreement leading to Bachelor of Science in Nursing offered by the Department ofNursing and Allied Health Sciences in the College of Science of Technology at Morehead State University.

Conditions of agreement for transfer of credit and cooperation between KCTCS Institutions’ Associate in Applied Science Nursing Program (ADN) and the Baccalaureate Nursing Program (BNP) at Morehead State University (MSU).

(1) Upon formal documentation of completion of the KCTCS ADN Program and successful completion of the pre-professional course work (general education and support courses), KCTCS ADN graduates will be selected for admission based on available slots and MSU’s academic admission standards into the Baccalaureate Nursing Program- Postlicensure (RN Track) component at Morehead State University, if they possess a license to practice as a registered nurse in Kentucky. (2) Successful completion of the ADN program at a KCTCS institution is defined by current standards of the program; should requirements for graduation for the ADN or BNP change, these changes shall be communicated to the other program and the conditions of this agreement reviewed.

(3) Graduates from KCTCS ADN program shall be subject to the same admission and academic policies as all applicants to MSU’s Baccalaureate Nursing Program -Postlicensure (RN Track) component.

(4) Upon successful completion of the first semester ofrequired nursing courses at Morehead State University, the Postlicensure (RN Track) student will receive 32 semester credit hours in NURB 375 for transfer credit for lower level nursing courses.

(5) The transfer agreement stipulates a course of study (transfer framework) leading to an Associate in Applied Science degreeinNursing from KCTCS colleges which will allow students to transfer a block of courses to Morehead State University to meet requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing upon the successful completion of additional Morehead State University courses outlined in the attached articulation agreement.

to ensure consistency, program quality and transferability for the mutual benefit of the students at both institutions.

(7) KCTCS and MSU agree to coordinate changes in course content or requirements for any course listed in the transfer agreement in order to ensure continued compatibility between the programs of study.

(8) KCTCS and MSU agree to renegotiate this agreement as necessary due to changes in course content or graduation requirements at either institution.

(9) Morehead State University will continue to provide a BNP Extended Campus Coordinator who will work with the KCTCS faculty/advisors and provide academic advice to students enrolled in this cooperative program.

(10) KCTCS will designate persons to serve as academic advisors to students enrolled in this program ofstudy. These advisors will recruit students for the program of study and encourage students to complete the admission requirements for both KCTCS’s and MSU’s BPN program.

(11) KCTCS will provide space for the MSU BNP Extended Campus Coordinator to meet with students enrolled in the program of study at times and places mutually agreed upon by both institutions.

(12) KCTCS and Morehead State University will work together to design and place promotional materials, news releases, and informational brochures.

(13) KCTCS Associate Degree Nursing Programs Coordinators or designee will serve on the Morehead State University Nursing Programs Advisory Committee and Morehead State University Baccalaureate Nursing Program Coordinator will serve on KCTCS Associate Degree Nursing Program Advisory Committee.

(13) Both institutions will observe SACS, CPE, and Kentucky Board ofNursing guidelines and rules for offering the programs.

(14) In the event that Morehead State University determines that it will no longer offer the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, MSU will provide one-year written notice of the termination ofthe degree program. Students enrolled in the program, either at a KCTCS college or MSU, will be given a reasonable amount of time to complete degree requirements.
