Installing the VPN
1. Close any open applications.
2. Visit http://www.tesd.net to install/download the VPN only once to your home computer. Scroll down on the home page and click on User Options on the left, then Sign In. Log into the website using your network user name and password. On the District home page, click on the Technology section found under the Departments channel at the top. On the left, click on the Virtual Private Network page.
3. You must complete all steps on the VPN page. Please follow the links to download either the Windows or Mac versions of the software on your home computer.

5. Once setup is complete, it will need to restart the computer -- please allow it to do so.
6. After you have restarted your computer, save the TESD Teacher VPN.pcf file to your desktop. This file is found on the VPN page on the website (Step 2). You may save this file by right-clicking on the file
Accessing and Using the VPN
1. Once installed a shortcut VPN icon should be placed on your desktop. Double-click on the icon to open the VPN. If no shortcut
appears, click in the “All Programs” section of the Start menu and look for an entry named “Cisco Systems VPN Client.” Inside it, click on the icon for “VPN Client.”
2. In the VPN Client window, if TESD Teacher VPN info does not appear under the Connection Entry column, click on “Import.” Direct to your VPN Cisco folder found on your computer’s hard drive. Click on the TESD Teacher VPN.pcf file and click OK. The TESD user name and password credentials should appear in the VPN Client window. Click once to highlight the Connection Entry, “TESD Teacher VPN,” and click on the Connect button.

4. In the VPN client “Welcome” window, click “Continue.”
5. Once you are connected, you will see a gold padlock on the bottom of your desktop task bar (near the clock). TESD network resources are now available.
6. To disconnect from the VPN, right-click on the padlock icon in the taskbar and select “Disconnect.”
Reminder
: In order to access network resources such as
the Elementary Progress Report System (TAC), IEP Plus,
or your network folders, you must be connected to the
VPN first. If the gold padlock is “locked,” then you are
connected and can proceed. If the gold padlock is

2. Once connected, open your Internet Explorer web browser.
3. In the address bar area, type the following address: http://esp/tac
4. Click “Go.”
5. A log-in window will appear.
6. Enter your network User Name and Password into the fields.

Accessing IEP Plus
1. To access IEP Plus, connect first or stay connected to the VPN.
2. In your Internet Explorer web browser, type
http://172.16.0.37/iepplus.
3. Click “Go.”

Setting up a Shortcut to Access Personal Storage Folders
1. Once successfully connected to the TESD VPN, right-click on the
Windows desktop.
2. In the menu that appears, go to “New” and left-click on “Shortcut.”
3. A Create Shortcut window will open.
4. In the “Type the location of the item:” field, enter:
(Replace ‘username’ will with your TESD user name - i.e. smithj.)
For Elementary staff, enter: \\fileserver1\users\username For TEMS staff, enter:
\\temserver2\staff\username For VFMS staff, enter: \\vfmserver2\staff\username For CHS staff, enter:
\\chsserver2\staff\username For ESC staff, enter:
\\resource\users\username
When typing this location, be careful to use the “\” key located directly above the Enter key found on your keyboard.
9 6. You may need to log into the fileserver before a shortcut is created.
7. In the user name field, type tesd\ before your username. If you find this doesn’t work, try typing your
username and password without the tesd\.
8. Enter your network password.
9. Click “Ok.”
10. Enter a name for the shortcut or use the default name that is typed into the field.
11. Click “Finish.”
12. A shortcut to your personal storage folder on the fileserver will now appear on your desktop.
Note: The newly created shortcut will access your personal storage files whenever first connected via VPN. Simply double-click on the icon. If prompted for a user name and
password, enter your TESD user name (with tesd\ before it – for example: tesd\smithj) and your password.
