Description Subject Coverage
Adis Reactions Database provides comprehensive news and current information on adverse drug reactions. The database is the online equivalent of the Reactions™ newsletter and
provides comprehensive coverage and analysis of all clinically relevant adverse drug events, as well as explores and interprets trends identified from thousands of biomedical journals
published worldwide.
Journals screened include leading worldwide general medical journals, medical specialty journals, special interest journals and periodicals in the fields of basic biomedical sciences, drug research, pharmacology, clinical pharmacy, and medical therapeutics. Over 80 Japanese journals devoted to pharmacology and medical therapeutics are monitored and translated.
All reports follow CIOMS II Data Guidelines and FDA requirement definitions.
To ensure comprehensive coverage, reports are routinely translated into English from various languages, including German, French, Italian, Spanish and Japanese.
Coverage of more than 2,000 major international medical and biomedical journals can be found in the database. Areas covered by Adis Reactions Database include:
Views and Reviews providing insight into current issues and trends in adverse drug use
experience
Adverse Drug Reactions(ADR) providing comprehensive reporting of all adverse reaction case reports and incidence studies identified in international biomedical literature
Drug Interactions identifying reports of clinical experience in individual patients and evaluations of their clinical significance
Overdose with particular emphasis on the clinical management strategies used as well as their effectiveness
Abuse and Dependency containing all cases of abuse and dependency that appear in the literature alerting searchers to potential problems and possible solutions

Reload 2012 Notes
1. Abstract and Full Text: some records now contain an abstract as well as full text. The abstract when present is usually the lead paragraph of the report.
2. References: these are displayed with an accession number of a related record, apart from the last one which is the accession number of the record currently being displayed. The Citation Type is present, for example “Meeting report”, “Clinical study”, etc. When not provided it is shown as “Not defined”. This is followed by authors, article title, citation, country, date and language, when provided. Please do not use the Look-Up-Author facility as this does not apply to authors within a cited reference. Please note that hit highlighting does not operate within cited references.
3. Subject: some terms are supplied in a different way from the previous version of Adis Reactions, with qualifier information held separately from the actual term. For example, the previous version included the term
“Myocardial-infarction, drug-induced”. This is now supplied as the term “Myocardial-infarction” which is followed by the qualifier “drug-induced”. The old search phrase of SU(“MYOCARDIAL-INFARCTION, DRUG-INDUCED”) will no longer work. Instead, please use the search phrase SU(“MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION” LNK “DRUG INDUCED”). For the terms Adverse Event and Serious Adverse Event you must use .exact for example:
su.exact(“adverse event”) and su.exact(“serious adverse event”).
4. Therapeutic class: Ephmra and WHO ATC codes and descriptions have been added to Adis Reactions. Search using field code TC.
5. Title and Alternate title: Title information is now supplied without any additional phrases such as “ADR news” or
“First report”. Previously any additional title information was added to the end of the title, but now it is present in Alternate title.
6. Issue, Pagination, ISSN: these items are now displayed as individual fields, as well as being present in the last Reference i.e the reference to the currently displayed record.
7. Date created, Date revised: these dates are now present when supplied.
8. Publication title: this is the same for all records, and is “Adis Reactions”. The results filter is present to keep consistency with respect to multi-file searches.
9. Accession number: accession numbers are no longer nine digits long. The old numbers were preceded by an
„8‟ and then as many „0‟s as were necessary. The new numbers have no prefixes. For example, the old accession number 801157974 is now just 1157974.
