Dear parishioners,

A few weeks ago I used this column to share how beautifully our parish family lived "the Corporal Works of Mercy!" I am grateful to be part of the Body of Christ which takes the call to

live charitably so seriously!

Today I ask that those who feel called to help in a special way, consider assisting at the time of a pa-rishioner’s death . . . to help "bury the dead!" We have many funerals during the course of the

year. Since the children we have in the parish go to Holy Cross Academy or one of the Public Schools we cannot call on them to serve when a funeral arises during the school year. I am grateful to the adult servers who generously answer the call to assist families at this important time. We could also use more adults who might assist in this ministry. We will often have several funerals in a week. In those cases it becomes more difficult to find servers. Of course we can also use more adult servers for all the week day and weekend Masses.

I also want to remind you that there is always room for more people to come and be part of the Resurrec-tion Choir. We have such faithful folks who come to sing, but of course they can't make every funeral! I ask you to give some thought about these ministries that are a direct response to one of the Works of Mercy!

For those who are grieving the loss of a loved one, remember there is a special session for those griev-ing the loss of a spouse on Thursday August 23rd. And the extended Grief Support Group resumes Au-gust 30th. Details are in this bulletin!

In Christ, our hope of resurrection and life! Fr. John

Interested in the Catholic Faith?

Are you interested in learning more about the Christian faith and rich Catholic tradi-tion? A new group of adult inquirers is forming soon. Please consider joining our inquiry group if you:

Have never been baptized, were baptized in another Christian tradition and are thinking about becoming Catholic, or, were baptized Catholic but never completed the sacraments of initiation (Eucharist or Confirmation)? If you are interested or know of someone who might be interested, please call Sr. Pat at 638-3938.

Prayer for the Journey of Faith Life-Giving Father, we ask you to bless our parish with

candidates and catechumens who desire to become one with us in our Catholic Faith. May our lives of prayer and our works of charity in the name of Jesus, draw them to the Eucharistic table where we will stand as one body united in your Spirit. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

SHF Fundraiser/NFL Survivor Pool

Please consider playing in an NFL SURVIVOR Pool with half of your entry going to the winner (s) and the other half will help support the many Ministries that we have at Seven Holy Founders. If your team loses in a particular week, you are eliminated. The cost to play is just $20. Half of which will be paid to the winner (s) and the other half will go to SHF to help support the many Par-ish Ministries.
