Item # Comment Staff Response 40 Zoned students should receive  priority for their previous zoned  school over choice‐in students. ‐ Not recommended by staff. ‐ Difficult to manage ‐ May have same result as grandfathering all students. ‐ Could lose students in choice program. 41 High school rezoning should end  with comparable‐size high  schools.  Do not end with one  considerably larger than the  other. There is also concern this  will cause teachers to lose their  jobs.  ‐ Can be done ‐ Do not rezone high schools.  There is not a capacity need to rezone the  high schools. ‐ Teachers’ positions move with students and often volunteer to move to  different schools. Teachers would not lose their jobs 42 Wait for new Board in January to  complete rezoning. ‐ Not recommended by staff. ‐ Time would be needed to bring new Board members up to speed. ‐ We need to give time to notify parents.   ‐ Choice enrollment begins in February. 43 Hold more town halls after  developing new plan. ‐ Can be done. ‐ Would like to have plan finalized by January 1 in order to have 1 month  prior to February choice enrollment.  Current plan for completion is in  early November. 44 Do not rezone Alljoy and  Heritage Lakes to MRHS. ‐ Can be done. 45 No high school mobiles ‐ This would mean require changes from current format: 1. larger class sizes
