As Regional Vice President and General Manager, David Bernand, says, “Cancer is a disease that has touched us all in some way.
This race, and its legacy, is a meaningful way to honor and remember those that this disease has impacted, and to take an empowering stand against it as a community. More than ever, we are committed to raising money to continue to help fund cancer research and clinical trials, and we need your help. Please make any size donation to join us in this fight!”
TERRY FOX AND ISADORE SHARP
Since 1980, Four Seasons has organized and participated in annual charity runs all over the world to raise funds toward advancing cancer research. This cause has been supported by Four Seasons employees since Terry Fox’s historic Marathon of Hope across Canada over 40 years ago.
Along highways, through towns, and in pouring rain, Terry inspired thousands along a route that was lined with supporters from all walks of life who cheered on his courage and advocacy. Terry succumbed to cancer before reaching his goal. Following Terry’s passing, Isadore Sharp, founder of the Four Seasons, worked closely with the Canadian Cancer Society and other sponsors to ensure Terry’s legacy lived on through an annual run held in his name.
The first Terry Fox Run, held the following year, drew more than 300,000 participants and raised $3.2 million.
Supporting Terry’s dream is just one way Four Seasons employees strive to advance cancer research.
Through annual runs, golf tournaments, food and beverage promotions, and other activities, every Four Seasons hotel and resort actively supports local and regional efforts to find a cure for cancer.
Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC has proudly partnered with The Washington Cancer Institute for the past 21 years to continue the tradition of Four Seasons philanthropic efforts.

“I was very fortunate that after my diagnosis,
my oncologist offered me a chance to participate in a trial at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center Washington Cancer Institute. The thought of a trial gave me hope: hope for a new drug and a sense of helping others down the road with trial results.
Trials are so important for research and the possibility of new drugs. Without trials, we wouldn’t have all these new drugs that are helping cancer patients.”
