Preface

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to the Workshop on Oral cGVHD & Clinical Practice in cGVHD 2013 held in Regensburg. Chronic GVHD continues to be a challenge in clinical practice balancing GVHD treatment against toxicity and infectious morbidity. The workshop will focus on two aspects in clinical care of patients with chronic GVHD.

The workshop on oral GVHD will provide a comprehensive overview on pathophysiology, diagnosis, immunosuppressive and supportive treatment as well as long term complications of oral chronic GVHD.

The workshop on clinical practice of chronic GVHD will focus on daily routine and will be organized in case seminars in small groups each headed by a multidisciplinary team (Senior Transplant Physician, Pathologist, Dermatologist, Oral Surgeon, Physical Therapist, Ophthalmologist, Transplant Nurse). Additional specialties will be added if required. The aim is to evaluate patients with chronic GVHD including diagnosis, histopathology, severity grading, to discuss treatment options to develop a treatment plan including supportive care. Since different groups will evaluate and the same patients, this approach will permit the indentification of areas of consensus as well as fields with further need of clarification. In contrast to the last meetings where will be an upper limit for participants during the workshop on Saturday.

Both workshops are supported by Falk Foundation e.V.
