WHAT IS THE TECH CAMPUS?

The Tech Campus is an extension site of many area high schools for juniors and seniors to attend classes in a specific career training program. The Tech Campus is regarded as one of the best Career Technical Education training facilities in the Midwest with a highly qualified staff dedicated to excellence in career technical education. With twenty-two member high schools throughout Lake and McHenry Counties representing over 1600 high school students, we have the largest career technical secondary educational system in the State of Illinois.

WHO CAN ATTEND THE TECH CAMPUS?

Juniors and seniors from the following high schools can attend the Tech Campus: Alden-Hebron, Antioch, Deerfield, Grant, Grayslake Central, Grayslake North, Highland Park, Johnsburg, Lake Forest, Lake Zurich, Lakes, Libertyville, Mundelein, North Chicago, Richmond-Burton, Round Lake, Stevenson, Vernon Hills, Warren, Waukegan, Wauconda, and Zion-Benton. Students from non-member schools must inquire through their district of residence.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ATTEND THE TECH CAMPUS?

Students do not pay tuition to attend the Tech Campus. Tuition is paid by the school district in which the student resides. Students are responsible for lab fees, course supplies, and materials. Costs vary by program. See the student handbook for program fee listings.

HOW DO STUDENTS ENROLL AT THE TECH CAMPUS?

Contact your high school counselor ASAP and tell them you want to attend the Tech Campus. Your counseling department has Tech Campus applications available. It is important to talk to your counselor early in the year so that you can attend the Tech Campus and complete all courses required for graduation.

HOW DO STUDENTS GET TO THE TECH CAMPUS?

Your high school provides bus transportation to and from the Tech Campus.

WHEN ARE THE CLASSES AT THE TECH CAMPUS?

The Tech Campus has three sessions a day. First session is from 8:20 a.m. to 10:20 a.m., second session is from 10:25 a.m. to 12:25 p.m., and third session is from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

If you choose Cosmetology, the AM session is from 8:20 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and the PM session is from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additionally, Cosmetology students must also complete 13 Saturday classes. These extended hours

allow students to meet the 1500 hours of course work required for state certification.

DO I GET HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT FOR ATTENDING THE TECH CAMPUS?

YES! In fact, you get three high school elective credits for each year you complete at the Tech Campus. You can use this to your advantage to improve your GPA because when you get an “A” in a Tech Campus

program, it is like getting 3 “A”s in a typical high school course. Cosmetology students earn four credits.

IF I PLAN TO GO TO COLLEGE, CAN I FIT A COURSE AT THE TECH CAMPUS INTO MY SCHEDULE?

YES! You can earn college credit in almost all programs at the Tech Campus. We have agreements with CLC, MCC, and many other respected colleges and technical schools that

help you get a head start in college before you graduate from high school.

IS THE TECH CAMPUS THE COLLEGE OF LAKE COUNTY?

No, we are not the College of Lake County. We are an extension of your high school. We have an excellent partnership with CLC as well as many other
