STUDENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Student athletes need to have:

Up-to-date Pre-participation Physical (EL2)

Consent and Liability (EL3)

Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) forms

appropriate insurance documentation

• In addition, this year, a COVID-19 release form and six mandatory online courses must be completed to be eligible to play sports at school.

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• To be eligible for athletics, the athlete must be in compliance with the guidelines set by the Florida High School Activities Association. The guidelines for each sport are published by the FHSAA.

• The Athletic Director and coaches will monitor academic performance and behavior on a regular basis. Coaches will be informed of all concerns pertaining to grades, effort, and conduct of the

student athlete. If the semester grade point average falls below a 2.5, the athlete will be placed on athletic probation and may be allowed to participate based upon a decision by the athletic director. If the athlete’s cumulative un-weighted grade point average falls below a 2.0, the athlete will not be allowed to participate.

• Athletes placed on any type of disciplinary action may not participate in games or practices until the actions or infractions have been satisfied.

• Athletes may only participate when all required medical, eligibility, hold harmless, and transportation forms have been filed out for each season.

• All of the athlete’s paperwork and fees must be turned in to the Athletic Director via Family ID before the first day of practice for specified sport.

• Any student who receives a suspension from school may not participate or finish the current or upcoming season.

WHAT TO BRING TO TRY-OUTS/ PRACTICE

Students should wear athletic shorts, T-shirts (no half shirts,

tank tops, or removing T-shirts)

Towel

Personal water/hydration jug (NO SHARING)

Face covering

Sports-specific equipment, as needed

ATHLETE SCREENINGS

When an athlete arrives, he or she will undergo

:

• Temperature check

• Asked several health screening questions

• Have a pulse oximeter check

• Once athletes pass all of these checks, they will report to their designated location.

• If a student athlete presents with a high temperature (exceeding 100.4 degrees), a phone call will be made to his or her parent/guardian and either the student will drive himself/herself home, or a parent will need to pick the student up from school immediately.

FACE COVERINGS

Face coverings are required to be worn once the student

arrives on campus and are expected to be worn the entire

time while on campus. The only exception is during an

active outdoor workout/practice session, when face

coverings do not have to be worn.

Students may wear mask during competition if they would

like. ( Basketball)

COVID -19 NOTIFICATION

• If a student athlete or someone in the same household tests positive for COVID-19, they must immediately notify the school.

• He or she is expected to quarantine for at least 10 days after the onset of symptoms and until 24 hours fever free without the use of fever-reducing medications.

• The student will be asked to provide proof of a negative test for COVID-19.

• If another student athlete has tested positive for COVID-19, there are specific protocols that will be taken by the school.

• Student athletes and their parents will be notified of their specific situation and what next steps need to be taken.

ATHLETIC FEES: MANDATORY

2020-2021 Fees for Middle School & High School Teams

• Fee: $100.00

• Sibling and multisport discounts will be made as follows: • Multisport:

• Full athletic fee will be paid toward the first sport and athletic fee for each additional sport will receive a $15.00 discount. • Example: • Sport 1: $100.00 • Sport 2: $85.00 • Sport 3: $70.00 • Siblings:

• Athletes with siblings in a SACM athletic team will pay full price for the first sibling and the second sibling will receive a fifty percent discount off of their athletic fee, making the fee $50.00. The first sibling will be eligible for the multisport discount, if applicable, however the siblings will pay a set fee of $50.00.

• Example: Student A: Sport 1 - $100.00 Student Sport 2 - $85.00 Student B: Sport 1: $50.00 Sport 2 -$50.00

ATHLETIC FEES: MANDATORY

There is only ONE available option for completing this requirement:

• A) Make a full payment or pay in installments completing the final payment no less than one week before the start of the team’s season, or the student will not be cleared to play. The payment(s) will only be

accepted in the Main Office and must be CASH or MONEY ORDER (no checks). Visa & Mastercard payments can be made online at www.somersetcentral.org.

**Coaches are NOT authorized to collect this payment**

• The requirement must be fulfilled no less than ONE week before the start of the team’s season or the student will not be cleared to play.

• Other team or school fundraising activities and/or donations to the team or school (including Parent Hours donations) will NOT count towards the Athletic Fee requirement, only the options above will satisfy the Athletic Fee.

FamilyID Registration

In order to participate, all student athletes must create a free account on

Familyid.com and upload the required forms. Our school’s registration page

can be found at:

On FamilyID.com you will fill out all the required information and forms. You

also need to take the NFHS course certifications. (Every athlete must take

these courses each year).

FHSAA EDUCATIONAL COURSES: MANDATORY

• Annually, all FHSAA student athletes will be required to complete the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Educational Courses listed below:

• Bullying, Hazing and Inappropriate Behaviors: https://nfhslearn.com/courses/bullying-hazing-and-inappropriate-behaviors

• The NFHS courses are offered at NO cost to the students and are also available on FamilyID • After taking each course, please upload the certificate for each completed course to FamilyID

• Once each course is completed, it will cover all sports the student participates in for that particular school year. Courses must be retaken annually.

Course Ordering

• Step 1: Go to www.nfhslearn.com.

• Step 2: “Sign In” to your account using the e-mail address and password you provided at time of registering for an nfhslearn account.

• OR If you do not have an account, “Register” for an account.

• Step 3: Click “Courses” at the top of the page.

• Step 4: Scroll down to the specific course from the list of courses.

• Step 5: Click “View Course”.

• Step 6: Click “Order Course.”

• Step 7: Select “Myself” if the course will be completed by you.

• Step 8: Click “Continue” and follow the on-screen prompts to finish the checkout process. (Note: There is no fee for these courses.) Beginning a Course

• Step 1: Go to www.nfhslearn.com.

• Step 2: “Sign In” to your account using the e-mail address and password you provided at time of registering for an nfhslearn account.

• Step 3: From your “Dashboard,” click “My Courses”.
