Napa Valley Overview

Napa Valley is one of the premier travel destinations in the world. Breathtaking views abound at every turn – mustard in the late winter, picturesque rolling hills planted with vineyards year-round and wineries of every stature dot the landscape. Whether you are wine tasting, dining at renowned restaurants like the French Laundry, pampering yourself with a mud bath in Calistoga, or just enjoying your stay at quaint bed & breakfasts, hotels or resorts…. Napa Valley is your spot of heaven on earth.

Set in the folds of northern California’s fertile hills, Napa Valley has become synonymous with fine wine. Hundreds of wineries offer tastings along California’s state route 29 and the Silverado Trail, and the top-notch spas and world-renowned restaurants sweeten the visit. You also have the choice to head to the smaller, family-owned vineyards of the Sonoma Valley to the west. Here life slows down, the winemaker often staffs the tasting room and the only problem you’ll encounter is settling on where to eat dinner. And you will for sure, enjoy it!

The train itself has two engines, two kitchens on board, and a collection of early 20th century rail cars that are pure Americana. It offers guests great regional food and fabulous, hard-to-find wines.

The Napa Valley Wine Train provides a relaxing three-hour along the 36 miles round-trip journey between the historic town of Napa through one of the world’s most famous wine valleys to the quaint village of St. Helena and back. You will be enjoying the option of a freshly prepared lunch as you view vineyards and wineries from any of the vintage 1915-1917 Pullman Dining rail cars which have been lavishly restored. These expertly refurbished 1915-1917 Pullman Cars create an atmosphere conducive to relaxation and enjoyment. Meals, crafted by Executive Chef Kelly Macdonald, are prepared in a specially fabricated kitchen car located

immediately adjacent to each dining area. As with all menu choices, the meals are freshly prepared on the train using environmentally responsible ingredients, humanely raised, hormone-free meats and fresh, line-caught fish. You will be dining on fresh soup or salad and you choice of entrée in the dining car while travelling up the valley, and will be served dessert with complimentary coffee or tea in one of the lounge cars on the return trip. The lounge cars are luxuriously furnished and equipped with picture windows to maximize the view. All the rail cars are expertly finished with Honduran mahogany paneling, etched glass partitions, brass accents and original artwork by Nepo. You are invited to explore the train where you may visit the kitchen car to see chefs in action, wine tasting bar, where wine expert can help you find a favorite new wine, or the observation deck to enjoy an unobstructed view of the valley.
