SELECTING A MASK

Mask Type

Selection

• Select the appropriate mask type by

following the flow diagram on the right.

• Ideally, the patient should choose their

preferred mask with clinical guidance.

Useful tips

• A full face mask is preferable for

patients with mouth leak.

• If a full face is not required, a nasal

system should be first choice.

• Pillows should be considered as the

nasal mask of choice.

Past nasal / soft palate surgery (e.g. UPPP)? YES

Rhinitus? Sinusitis? Hay Fever? YES No Humidifier

Other nasal symptoms (e.g. Mouth breathes)? YES

Mask Size

Selection

• Select the appropriate mask size

by following the instructions.

• The range of sizes ensures that

every patient can achieve optimal fit.

Useful tips

• The 2D sizing templates will help you

determine the optimal cushion size.

• If the template opening is too close to their

nares or nasal perimeter, that size cushion

is incorrect and may cause the patient to

experience discomfort from pressure on

the nasal bridge or cheek bones.

• Incorrect cushion size can also lead to leak

into the eyes or around the nose.

(5)

• Place the fitting template around the nose and align

arrow to bottom of the nose.

• Obtain a close fit around the nose allowing some

clearance around the nostrils and the nasal bridge.

• Align the fitting template to chin crease.

• Determine cushion size according to the

position of the corner of the eye.

• Align the fitting template to bottom of the nose.

• Check the position of the chin crease above

or below the dotted line.

• If the chin crease is above dotted line,

then choose the small cushion.

• If the chin crease is below dotted line,

then choose the large cushion.

Quick fitting guide

Minimal contact, optimal seal

• The first nasal pillows with ResMed’s proven

dual-wall technology.

• The pillows rest on a flexible cushion base

maintaining seal.

Freedom to move and sleep on the side

• Headgear with flexible stabilising elements

gently holds the system in place when user turns or moves during sleep.

• The cushion base enables the dual-wall

pillows to move in different directions without compromising seal or creating leaks.

Super-quiet and personalised comfort

• Air is dispersed gently through the fine vents. • The innovative vent design directs air away

from the user and their partner.

Do not overtighten headgear straps

• Holding the pillows at your nose, pull the headgear over your head.

• Headgear should sit midway between the ears and eyes.

• To attach, push it into the top

headgear buckle.

• Clip in either the short tube or

device air tubing, depending on flexibility needs.

• The tubing can be positioned to

either side of your face or centered.

• If the pillows pull on your nose, adjust the tubing at the tube retainer.

• Turn the MicroFit dial to position 24, so that the

forehead support is fully extended.

• Connect one end of the air

tubing to the swivel and the other end to the airflow device.

fingers as a guide.

• Turn on the airflow device. • While lying down, adjust the

dial for comfort and seal.

• If fitted incorrectly, the

cushion will be creased and the active cell underinflated.

Quick fitting guide

ActiveCell™ Technology

• The unique cushion features an ‘active cell‘

that automatically expands and contracts to suit user movements and varying pressures throughout the night.

• Ideal for active sleepers; ActiveCell Technology

provides dynamic defence against leak.

A fine-tuned fit

• MicroFit dial provides easy, one-handed forehead support adjustment.

• Less dependant on headgear tension and adjustment to achieve an effective seal (quicker fitting time, less callbacks and

improved user compliance).

The quiet achiever

• Innovative diffuse vent design, disperses air quietly and softly, at a short distance, away

from the bed partner.

• Located on the elbow for easy cleaning and

disassembly.

Do not overtighten headgear straps

• Disconnect the lower headgear

clip, hold the mask over the nose and pull the headgear over the head.

• Reconnect the lower headgear

clip ensuring it clicks into place.

• If the mask is fitted correctly,

the cushion should be smooth and the active cell (highlighted) fully inflated.

• Gently tighten lower headgear straps.

• Do not overtighten straps.

straps and move forehead support tab to another

position (eg, position 2). • Gently tighten upper

headgear straps.

• Test all four positions of

forehead support tab and

adjust headgear straps until

you achieve a secure and comfortable fit.

Quick fitting guide

Seal and comfort

• Mirage dual-wall cushion reduces

pressure on nasal bridge and optimises seal and comfort.

• Forehead support provides seal and

stability with a choice of four clearly numbered positions.

Easy to use

• Headgear clips allow quick attachment/

detachment of headgear - no further

adjustments required after initial fitting.

Ultra-quiet

• Vent design minimises airflow

intensity and noise.

• Specially designed to direct air away

from user and partner, and provide

optimum CO2 washout.

Do not overtighten headgear straps

• Disconnect one headgear clip. • Ensure that forehead support

tab is in position 1. Place mask

on face and pull headgear over head. Make sure upper straps pass across forehead and lower straps below ears.

• Reattach headgear clip to mask frame.

CLEANING

Daily

The

cushion and frame should be wiped daily with a

damp cloth.

Weekly

The

mask system should be washed a minimum of once

per week.

Separate

and hand wash mask components (including

tubing) in lukewarm, soapy water (original washing up liquid

is recommended).

Rinse

well and allow to air dry out of direct sunlight, not

on a radiator.

Hand

-wash headgear separately.

Caution

Do

not use solutions containing bleach, chlorine, alcohol,

aromatics, moisturisers, antibacterial agents or scented

oils to clean the mask or tubing. These solutions may

reduce the life of the mask (life expectancy is 1 year).

If

• any visible deterioration of a mask component is

apparent (cracking, crazing, tears, etc), the mask

component should be discarded and replaced.
