CPA Manitoba Member Recognition Gala

The annual CPA Manitoba Member Recognition Gala will take place at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights on October 7, 2020. This event is the premier gathering for senior level accounting and business professionals in Manitoba. The focus of the evening is to recognize members

The Chartered Professional Accountants of Manitoba Foundation Inc. (CPA Manitoba Foundation) was established on July 1, 2015 to support and fund the pursuit of business and accounting
education for students and members through inspired and engaged donors.
The CPA Manitoba Foundation recognizes and rewards academic achievement along with business and community leadership through awards and scholarships. Through a successful bursary
support program, the Foundation also supports those in financial need which can be a significant barrier for some CPA candidates and students. Since the Foundation was established, the awards, scholarships and bursary programs have supported 264 CPA candidates, preparatory students and high school students by providing over $876,000 in funding, including over $101,000 in bursary support.
The Foundation strives to build on its awards, scholarships and bursary programs through impactful fundraising and engagement events which are critical to making a greater impact on our strategic giving. These events provide donor stakeholders with a variety of opportunities to engage and receive exposure. There is flexibility to sponsor one event or participate as a Foundation Event Champion Sponsor, which gives your organization exposure at all Foundation events held throughout the year. Currently, the Foundation holds an annual golf tournament, hockey tournament and a donor recognition evening.
As a Foundation sponsor, your organization will connect with business leaders and
decision makers, distinguish its brand, and receive additional corporate social responsibility exposure while helping to change lives by supporting business and accounting education in Manitoba.

Eric Mitchell Hockey Tournament
March 6 & 7
The 31st annual Eric Mitchell Hockey Tournament will be held on March 6 & 7, 2020 at Bell MTS Iceplex. This event has become a special tradition for many members who participate.
Working as a senior auditor with tournament founders Charles Henaire, FCPA, FCA and Laurie Nesbitt, CPA, CA, Eric Mitchell was part of a tight-knit team at the firm of Touche Ross (now Deloitte LLP). They met personal and professional milestones over several years and wrote their 1989 Uniform Final Evaluation (UFE) together. After writing the UFE, Eric set out on a well-deserved vacation, but tragedy struck during a scuba diving accident and he lost his life.
The tournament goes beyond hockey, delving into the powerful friendships built and the ties that bind the tournament to Eric. Funds raised from this event support the CPA Manitoba Foundation and help to invest in the future of those who are committed to making Manitoba a better place to live and work.
