specification is essentially a selective extract from CERN Safety Instructions No. 23.

ATS 1000.001: Fire-Smoke-Toxicity (FST) Test Specification, Airbus Industrie Technical Specification (Airbus Industrie, Headquarters, B.P. No. 33, F-31700 Blagnac, France.

Telex: AITO 530526 F, Tel. (61) 93.33.33). Other recognized standards may be proposed by the

manufacturer, such as UTE C 20-454 (French), NES 713

(GB) or equivalent standards (CERN contact:

IEC 332: Tests on electric cables under fire conditions:

332-1 Part 1: test on a Single vertical insulated Wire or cable;

332-3 Part 3: tests on bunched wires and cables;

332-3 Part 3: Amendment No. 1.

DIN 57 472: Prufung an Kabeln und isolierten Leitungen, Korrosivitat von Brandgasen (VDE-Bestimmung).

UITP-E4 3 m cube test for the measurement of smoke density,

flaming alcohol source.

Requirements: for the IEC 332-1 flame propagation test on wires and cables with outer diameter or thickeness < 5 mm the observed values should be reported and higher values may be considered, subject to agreement.

Toxicity limits (ppm after 1.5/4 min.) as defined in ATS 1000.001 par. 8.2.1 and sample test report.

Questionnaire: this column should be completed by the manufacturer and returned to CERN with the offer.
