Courses tailored to meet

In order to meet recruiter expectations as closely as possible, the University

Institute of Technology, IUT Annecy, has developed and implemented two

educational programs in close partnership with professionals from the

industry through collaboration with the “Outdoor Sports Valley” trade

association.

This partnership will ensure that students will graduate with skills that fit

recruiter expectations, and will help graduates to be more quickly placed in

companies for both internships and employment.

Two programs

tailored for a common passion: the outdoor sports industry

Bachelor’s degree in

“Performance Sports Textile & Footwear”

(PSTF)

Class size: 20 students

Duration: 6 months and a 4-month internship

All lectures in English

Location:

IUT ANNECY,

Management Department GEA University of Savoie, France

Objectives:

Train high-level technicians for the outdoor sports & leisure industries in apparel, footwear, sports bags and textile accessory design

Requirements for admission:

2 years of university level studies (equal to 120 ECTS)

Good level of English Interest in outdoor sports and

sports industry

Students of all nationalities with Scientific, Technical, or Design (fashion) background

Adults from VAE (Validation of Acquired Experience)

No prerequisites in technical textiles

Semester split:

Two semesters (from September to June), with the possibility of participating in just one of the two semesters:

Semester 1: classes, lectures, and begin group project

Semester 2: classes, group project + 4-month internship (from March to the end of June)

Sports Biomechanics and Physiology

Sports Industry Culture and Sports Marketing

R&D and Product Innovation in Sports

Sustainable Development in the Sports Industry

Textiles (fundamentals and outdoor applications)

Design & Fashion

Apparel / Footwear & Accessories The Industry of Technical Textiles

(production, quality...)

The Economy of Technical Textiles (suppliers, purchasers...) Project Management Company visits and trade fairs Second language and Chinese

Group project and internship:

Throughout the year, each student will participate in a group project involving work on a specific issue provided by outdoor sports industry stakeholders (companies, associations...)

The final 4-month internship (mostly in English) will take place in an outdoor sports industry company in France or abroad Both the project and the internship

will be graded based on a written report and an oral presentation

Bachelor’s degree in

“International Sales Specialists in Sports”

(I3S)

Opening: September 2014

Class size: 15 to 20

Duration: 7 months and a 3-month internship

Location:

IUT ANNECY,

Management Department GEA University of Savoie, France

Objectives:

To train future international sales representatives and managers to master applied sales techniques in the outdoor sports industry and to be capable of working in an international environment. The curriculum will provide a solid under-standing of operational marketing techniques for the sports market, as well as the key elements involved in product development (design, manufacturing, distribution, regulations, marketing, sourcing...)

Requirements for admission:

2 years of university level studies (equal to 120 ECTS)

Good level of English Interest in the Sports Industry

Student profile or target market:

Students of all nationalities with 2 years of university level studies For those who have an inclination for

sales and operational marketing, with an international vision

Semester split:

Semester 1: from September to December: classes, lectures, and begin group project

Semester 2:

- January to March: 3-month internship

- April to June: classes and lectures, group project

Course content:

All courses are taught in English The international sports market,

sports marketing, institutions and sports law, regulations & sustainable development Sports and consumer behavior,

international distribution channels in the industry

International business techniques, sales and negotiation techniques Human resources & team

management, budget & forecast management, IT & customer relationship management, Intercultural management Products & product innovation,

supply chain management, marketing case study simulations Understanding athlete needs

Group project and internship:

Throughout the year, each student will participate in a group project aimed at solving a specific marketing or sales issue for a sports company

A 3-month internship will take place in an outdoor sports industry company in France or abroad

Located in the French Alps, the Rhône-Alpes region is internationally

recognized by the outdoor sports industry as one of the key hubs

in Europe. Eider, Fusalp, Icebreaker, Mavic, Millet, Patagonia, Petzl,

Rossignol, Salomon, Scott Sports, ... have all established their European

headquarters in the area.

Approximately 250 outdoor sports companies are located in the

Rhône-Alpes region, representing more than 700 brands and 6,000 employees.

The Outdoor Sports Valley association (OSV), our partner, is a certified

industry cluster whose role is to federate, represent, and contribute to

the development of the outdoor sports industry in the areas of:
