The Role:

We require a Lead Learning Support Assistant, working 30 hours per week, all year round, at our state of the art Campus at Ellesmere Port, who is able to co-ordinate and monitor the LSA support of learners across College. The successful candidate will be required to work with the Assistant Manager - Specialist Learning and Support, Specialist Teachers and Curriculum staff, to ensure effective and appropriate support for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities at all levels.

Specific duties will include:-

 To co-ordinate and monitor the appropriate support of students with classroom activities either on a one to one or small group basis

 To act as a point of contact, for staff, learners and external agencies in arranging and monitoring LSA support, which may include face to face contact, in an efficient, responsive and courteous manner.  To arrange individual time-tables for all LSA’s

 To keep up to date records of support and complete all necessary paperwork to inform college systems including Spirals

 To support the Foundation Learning summer school in the role of LSA and contribute to the assessment of support needs

JOB PROFILE (S690)

Job Title: Lead Learning Support Assistant

Sector: Learning Services

Scale Point: SPS 17-20

Responsible to: Assistant Manager, Specialist Learning & Support

Main Purpose of position:

To co-ordinate the LSA support of students with Learning Difficulties and / or Disabilities across College. To liaise at all times with course/subject tutors, Specialist teachers and LSA’s regarding student information and support needs.

MAIN DUTIES:-

1. To co-ordinate and monitor the appropriate support of students with classroom activities, either on a one to one or small group basis.

2. To act as a point of contact, for staff, learners and external agencies in arranging and monitoring LSA support, which may include face to face contact, in an efficient, responsive and courteous manner 3. To liaise with the Assistant Manager, Specialist Learning & Support and Specialist Teachers regarding

action planning of support and appropriate reduction of support to enable independent learning . 4. To arrange individual time-tables for all LSA’s

5. To keep up to date records of support and complete all necessary paperwork to inform college systems including Spirals

6. To attend Learning Support Team meetings on a regular basis.

7. To facilitate LSA team meetings in Liaison with the Assistant Manager Specialist Learning and support 8. To support the Foundation Learning summer school in the role of LSA and contribute to the assessment

of support needs

9. To cover for LSA sickness where appropriate 10. To be prepared to travel across all sites.

11. To be prepared to work within the hours of 9.00am and 9.00pm, as required.

12. To carry out all duties in accordance with College policies, procedures and regulations with a full regard to Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities legislation.
