A note on sizes: Different print sizes result in different looks, depending on the crop. Please be aware: although 8x10 and 11x14 are standard, off-the-shelf frame sizes, they might not suit your image. Some areas of the original-full frame image must be trimmed to accommodate these “standard” dimensions and the cropped areas could be vital to your overall image. So please be aware of how cropping will affect your images, sometimes even cropping body parts.

Most clients end up preferring “full frame” (8x12, 12x18, 16x24, 20x30) where they don’t lose any of their image. Of course, this requires “custom framing”. scruffy dog now offers professional framing at amazing lab rates. Check out our Framing section.

In order to provide clients with an affordable answer to framing the “full-frame” sizes in which their images are shot and loved, without having to resort to the cost of custom framing, scruffy dog has arranged with the lab to have your images professionally framed. Double-white or double-black archival matting, a classic black, satin-finished solid oak frame, and even an option of low-glare glass. (Samples available for viewing at your studio consult.)

Not only will your prints come ready to hang, professionally framed, but because scruffy dog extends to you the lab’s price, with no mark-up, you are guaranteed the top quality for a price that is easily less than half what a custom framing job would cost. Our goal is to deliver your prints, ready to hang.

The most popular trend today in presenting your images as wall art is having your photos printed on fine-art canvas. Your image is printed onto superior quality archival canvas and hand-stretched onto a pine stretcher, then UV coated to ensure long life and protection against fading for years of enjoyment. We have sampled the top labs to find the finest-quality canvases for you. These cannot be compared to canvases available commercially, and any dimension is possible.

Standouts are a dramatic wall mount with a similar presence to the gallery- wrap canvas. They require no framing, are lightweight and easy to hang. Your fine-art print is mounted on a beveled 1/8" masonite fixed onto a 2" black, box-frame, and laminated for years of protection.

Floatmounts are fun and airy wall-mounts with a lighter presence than the standout or the canvas. Your fine-art print is mounted onto masonite, protected with laminate, and a frame-work is centered on the back to give the illusion that the print is floating off the wall.

The beveled edges of the masonite are finished in black. Floatmounts are lightweight and ready to hang for years of enjoyment.

Use your images to tell a story! Storyboards can be printed on standouts, floatmounts or as prints to be framed. There are endless design options. Pricing is calculated individually, based on the product, and the ultimate size of the piece.

The general formula used at the studio to calculate the cost of your finished storyboard is 2X the cost of the equivalent-sized product or print to cover design time and extra images used.

Press-printed cards are a great way to share your 4-legger’s photos with everyone. Printed on Euro Art stock (12 pt), your images never looked better. All four sides can be utilized for printing images, plus SDP offers several trendy design templates to make your cards truly stand out.

Cards are printed in sets of 25, 50 or 100, and come with envelopes.

Face it, unlike a photo shoot of yourself or your family, Rover simply doesn’t have a bad side ... even if his nose is a little long. At the end of the day, you’ll probably want to own more images of your 4-legger than you can possibly adorn your walls with. And scruffy dog photography wants you to have as many of these photographic memories as possible. An album is exactly the way to do this.

In an effort to make this possible, and because photo books are an investment, we have exhaustively sampled numerous book-making companies in Canada and the US to bring you the absolute finest combination of affordability and quality, keeping in mind the importance of acid-free, archival materials, binding and longevity. In the end, when nothing quite met our high standards, we developed our own “signature” books with our partner lab. These albums are based on years of designing and delivering books to countless scruffy dog clients, knowing what works, how your images are best presented, and what materials deliver the most vibrant and superior images.

genuine albums, and as such the pages lay flat, so nothing is lost in the gutter like press-printed coffeetable books. Also, because the images are printed on photographic paper, the detail and luminosity compares to none, and the pages are heavy stock.

A deluxe 12x12 flushmount album, starting at 10 spreads/20 pages of photographic paper. They do them for weddings; there’s no reason our dogs don’t deserve this kind of luxurious, grand format. Pages are laminated for a lifetime of protection, and each spread opens flat to reveal a full 12x24" print with a variety of design options that incorporate several images on each page.

The Best in Show Album offers three cover options: full leather (your choice of colour), partial leather with photo front (scruffy dog’s preferred cover), and full canvas with printed photo.

Over the years, scruffy dog clients have loved their packages. We have carefully developed five

print/product packages with you in mind and with the goal of getting most of your images into your hands. Each package features a variety of high-quality fine-art prints and products, including the package-exclusive Shoot-in-a-Box – 25 to 50 of your favorite session images printed on archival 4x6 or 5x7. These packages offer you savings of up to 40%, with savings of over 50% if you pre-order them at the time of your shoot! Consult the “Packages” materials/link provided to you.

Your Online Gallery: Your online, password-protected gallery of finished images will be posted two to four weeks after your shoot. Feel free to share your password with family and friends. Also your shoot could be chosen as an entry on the scruffy dog photography blog.

Once posted, your gallery will be viewable for a 14-day proofing period. Prints and products must be ordered during this time. Prices increase by 25% after your proofs expirePrices increase by 25% after your proofs expirePrices increase by 25% after your proofs expirePrices increase by 25% after your proofs expire. This increase is due to client and studio schedules, lab deadlines, and image archiving.

If you require your gallery to be maintained online beyond the 14-day proofing-period, a $15/week fee applies, paid prior to the expiration date. If you require your gallery to be remounted after it has been removed, a $35 upload fee will be charged.

A Note on Digital Files:::: In the same way that a film photographer does not sell their negatives, SDP does not sell full-resolution, 300 dpi, digital files except for commercial purposes. Why?

(1) Quality control: If you aren’t using professional labs, the quality and finished appearance of your prints are compromised – namely colour calibration, contrast, saturation, colour cast, etc.

(2) Copyright: When access is given to the high-res digital file, there is the potential for photo-manipulation – not just cropping and minor changes, but possibly more significant ones – which, of course, renders the image a non-scruffy dog image and violates the copyright.

SDP recognizes the growing popularity of digital frames and is excited about adding larger-sized, frame/web-ready images to the menu so that clients can set up their own slide shows in as many digital frames as they desire.

Images are non-printable, 72 dpi, and carry a discreet, transparent watermark. Sized at 1280 pixels long-side, these have ample resolution for up to 17" widescreen frames.

I highly recommend setting up a free half-hour to one-hour client-presentation session* at the scruffy dog home-studio at some point within your 14-day proofing period14-day proofing period14-day proofing period14-day proofing period. This personal session is your opportunity to review the full range of SDP products available in the various sizes, and to view your images at the source, on a colour-calibrated monitor, at full size.

You will also have the benefit of my experience and guidance as to which products are best suited to your home decor and which images would best work for those enlargements.

This is in no way a high-pressure sales environment. The scruffies are terrible at sales anyway. A client-presentation session is simply meant to assist you in making the best choices on how to display the photographic memories of your best friend.
