I can get a product (SpeciaLite) quoted to me from Old Castle/Vistawall… what is the finish required? Hardware will be provided to me by others to install onto my doors, Correct?

Answer: Doors and frames are aluminum clad wood doors with an aluminum clad wood frame;

see specification 081433.25 Aluminum-Clad Outswing Doors.

2. Question: Doors #100 & 100A… I’m assuming that these are aluminum stile and rail doors with aluminum transom & sidelite frames (2” x 4 ½”, thermally-broken, where possible) as

manufactured by Old Castle/Vistawall… what is the finish of these? Again, I’ll plan to prep and install hardware provided by others.

Answer: Doors and frames are aluminum clad wood doors with an aluminum clad wood frame;

see specification 081433.25 Aluminum-Clad Outswing Doors.

3. Question: Doors #113A & 113B… aluminum stile and rail type door leafs only as manufactured by Old Castle/Vistawall… what is the finish of these? Again, I’ll plan to prep and install hardware provided by others. These door leafs will be install into openings provided by others???

Answer: The difference between borrowed lit BL8 and BL5 is the fire rating. Change borrowed

lite BL5 in room 102 from BL5 to borrowed like BL1. Change borrowed lite BL8 in room 105 to borrowed lite BL2. See attached revised AE101

5. Question: Wood doors are to be factory-glazed and provided by others. what is the thickness of the laminated glass required for the interior door sidelites? .060 clear laminated glass is about 5/16” thick.

Answer: Provide laminated glass thickness required to achieve fire rating indicated on

drawings.

6. Question: On the west elevation drawing it shows 2 type D units and 1 type E. The floor plan reverses that and shows 2 type E and 1 type D. Which is correct?

(7)

Addendum No. 2 • Enrollment & Advancement Center University of Maine at Fort Kent • Fort Kent, Maine April 20, 2020 • Page 7

Answer: Window tags “D” and “E” on sheet AE101 to be reversed to match window tags on

8. Question: Cambia siding product is only manufactured with the species Yellow Poplar *not Ash. I didn’t see the widths needed for trim or siding so will need that info. Trim stock need to know 1x or 5/4 ?

Answer: Provide Yellow Poplar or Ash based on manufacturer availability. Provide trim

minimum 1x or 5/4 where noted on drawings.

9. Question: After going through the drawings and spec on the SIPS, we wanted to let you know that the spec you have called out for with an option for plywood is not acceptable. All third party testing for SIPS is with SIPS grade 7/16” OSB. Or (13/32”). Also, OSB is the only board available that comes in large sheets in which SIPS are made from. Where plywood is only available in 4’x8’ sheets. I would highly recommend making the spec change to eliminate a lot of confusion to bidders.

Answer: Specification will be revised to indicate: “Para 2.2 B: Minimum Thickness: As required

for structural performance.”

10. Question: We did not see a list of bidders for the project with the drawings. Is this something you could provide to us?

Answer: See list of bidders for the project in Addendum 1.

Answer: Refer to revised drawing AE601 for revised door schedule and location or rated

openings.

14. Question: Is any sprinkler work for this project, or is it just Fire Alarm?

Answer: There is no sprinkler work for this project.

15. Question: Would you accept panelized wood exterior walls? Meaning, would the walls that could be built off site to the specifications needed be accepted with a proper submittal package?

(8)

Addendum No. 2 • Enrollment & Advancement Center University of Maine at Fort Kent • Fort Kent, Maine April 20, 2020 • Page 8

Answer: We would accept panelized wood exterior wall, as long as everything meets the

requirements of our drawings and specifications.

Answer: We are not issuing a glass schedule since glass types are noted on the drawings, and

glass specifications are included in the associated door specifications.

17. Question: The West Elevation shows an assembly as D/E/D while the floor plan shows the assembly as E/D/E. Could you let us know which one is correct?

“D” to window type “E”. See attached AE101.

intended to go above the angled window. The top panel of the window is opaque so as not to see the blind from the exterior.

23. Question: Blinds: Vestibule 100, Vestibule 113 --- do any of these get shades (would think not)

Answer: No.

24. Question: Blinds: Window Type D, Type E --- can these receive ONE shade per? Answer: These windows do not receive shades.

• Not indicated in the drawings are two windows which should receive shades; window types C5 and F in conference room 104 should receive motorized dual shades. 27. Question: We have been looking over the drawings and just want to confirm the only radon

piping included in the project is from the radon pit to project west and then vertical to vent. In the past we have installed radon piping around the perimeter of buildings, but on these drawings it seems it only needs to be vented from the radon pit.

Answer: The only radon piping is from the radon pit over to the janitor’s room, then up through

the roof.

28. Question: Confirm that 4 #500 MCM Copper Conductors for Enrollment Center Service Entrance are needed for 225 Amp Service.

Answer: The specifications allow for either copper or aluminum, so they do not have to be

copper. The Enrollment Center Service entrance conductors can be the following: #350 copper or #500 aluminum conductors, for the 225A service.

29. Question: Confirm that only conduit with pull string is being provided for model school

underground service. Do the service entrance conductors need to be provided? No indication of sizes or quantities are listed.

Answer: Service entrance conductors to the Old Model School shall be #250 copper or #400

aluminum conductors.
