College Credit by Examination

The Foreign Language Placement test, AP and CLEP examination programs give students the opportunity to earn transfer credit. Please contact our Admissions Office to find out additional information about each of these exams and what grades may be accepted for college credit.

Foreign Language Placement Exam

All Indiana University East students who have previously taken a for-eign language in high school or have previous experience in a foreign language are eligible to take this placement test and oral exam. The results from the Foreign Language Placement Test indicate the IU East language course in which the student is qualified to enroll. Exams are given by appointment and administered by Foreign Language faculty members. Contact the School of Humanities and Social Sciences for more information.

Advanced Placement

The Advanced Placement (AP) program allows high school students to enroll in college level courses and test their proficiency by taking an exam. Students should request that their scores be sent to Indiana University East. The Office of Admissions will evaluate the results for transfer credit and mail a Credit Transfer Report to the student. Students interested should contact their high school guidance coun-selor or the College Board (www.collegeboard.org) for information.

CLEP

The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) enables students to earn transfer credit for what they have learned on the job, through self-study or personal interest. For more information, visit www.col-legeboard.org.
