AFGHANISTAN

Masjid construction

Currently the construction of three large Masjids is underway. This will enable local communities to have a central place for worship and allow communities to come together.

ALBANIA

Orphan Sponsorship

343 orphans are being sponsored in and around Tirana. Twenty five pounds is being paid to each orphan every monthly.

Teacher Sponsorship

A monthly salary is being paid to 14 teachers and 2 scholars who are providing free Islamic education to children in poor communities.

BANGLADESH

Rohingya Refugees in IDP Camps

Nearly 700,000 Rohingya refugees have fled to Bangladesh from Myanmar in recent years. Ummah Welfare Trust is providing is assistance to thousands of families in the refugee camps in Cox’s bazar.

Orphan Sponsorship

Two hundred Rohingya orphans are currently being supported with monthly cash payments to help facilitate their resettlement

Widows Sponsorship

1,300 widows are currently being supported with 1,000 BDT every month to help them meet their daily needs.

Cooking Fuel

Over 7,500 Rohingya families are being provided LPG cooking fuel on a monthly basis. Once they run out, they are given a free monthly refill.

BOSNIA

School Support

This project supports a free educational centre in Bosnia. Eight teachers are employed. The centre has 162 students, both adults and children, with each receiving free classes. It is the only Islamic school in Mostar.

This is regular programme providing financial assistance to the poor people in

BURMA - MYANMAR

Orphan Sponsorship

In the Ayeyarwady, Yangon and Bago regions, a total of 150 orphans are receiving monthly cash payments to help them with their daily needs

Teacher Sponsorship

Two hundred teachers are being supported to provide free education to communities in twelve villages around Yangon.

Arakan IDP Camps: Financial Assistance

970 Rohingya families who are residing in the IDP camps in Arakan are each receiving a one-time payment of £20 to help them meet their needs.

Arakan IDP Camps: Maktab Supprot

A maktab and a masjid are being supported in Sittewe’s camps, ensuring a free education for hundreds of displaced children.

GERMANY

Islamic Educational Centre

A free madrassah in Hannover, now in to its second year, is serving hundreds of local children. There was a great need to have an Islamic establishment to serve the local Muslim populations as the locals were greatly struggling with securing funding to establish the Islamic centre

INDIA

Financial Assistance for Ulama

In a one-million-pound programme, over 7,600 ulama and Islamic teachers will be receiving financial assistance. Ulama across India have been underpaid and

undervalued for a long time. Many have crippling debts.

Masjid Construction

Two masjids are currently being built: one in Delhi and one in West Bengal. Once complete, each masjid will accommodate over 200 worshippers inshaAllah.

Food Aid

Free food is being provided for Deoband’s Waqf project. The institute caters for 2,700 poor students who are boarding. The free food will allow them to focus on studies and remain in good health.

Teacher Sponsorship

Just over 300 teachers in Gujarat and other parts of India are being supported with monthly financial sponsorship programme.

Hifz Sponsorship

1,080 students are enjoying a monthly sponsorship to assist them in completing the memorisation of the holy Quran.

Orphan Sponsorship

In Jammu Kashmir, 350 orphans are receiving monthly financial assistance to help them survive the poverty.

Water Hand pumps

4,200 water hand are currently being installed in locations across West Bengal and Assam. These will ensure there is clean, safe drinking water for thousands of poor communities.

Cataract Operations

Over 730 beneficiaries are undergoing cataract operations. Surgery camps are being organised in different districts of Delhi NCR to ensure a greater coverage of poor patients.

Dialysis Treatment

Life-saving free dialysis treatments are being administered to sick individuals who are too poor to pay for the treatment.

Ummah Girls Academy

Construction of the new Ummah Girls Academy in West Bengal is still ongoing. Once complete it will for 200 poor and vulnerable girls from across the region. The girls will be boarding on a full-time basis and will receive a holistic education.

Widow Sponsorship

Monthly financial support is being given to 100 vulnerable widows in West Bengal. An allotted amount of £30 per month is help them meet their daily needs.

Financial Assistance for Widows

This is a new programme where we are supporting 500 vulnerable widows in Assam by providing a cash allowance of approximately £120 per quarter to support them in meeting their daily needs.

Financial Assistance for Disabled People

Poor physical disabled people in the Assam region of India are recieiving financial grants to help them live their lives. A total of 500 persons with special needs are being helped.

Student Scholarships

Over 370 poor students from India’s rural areas have been given scholarships to attend higher education and training at select engineering and medical

institutions.

House Construction

New houses are being built for 120 poor teachers and imams from across Assam and West Bengal. These teachers currently live in broken dwellings which give no cover during the rainy seasons.

Medical assistance

Financial grants are being given to poor persons in need of specialist medical care. The money is conditional and to be used on them securing much-needed medical treatment.

Fifty maktabs (children’s Qur’an classes) are receiving new panels to ensure an

uninterrupted electricity supply. A further fifty poor teacher’s homes are also

Toilet Blocks

One hundred new toilet blocks are being built for underfunded madrassahs and maktabs in the Assam region.

Upcoming Projects

• New galvanized iron sheets will be distributed to cyclone-affected families.

• House renovations will begin for families whose homes have been devastated in cyclones.

• Financial assistance will be provided to victims of the Delhi riots.

Kashmir

Widows sponsorship

A total of 136 widows are being helped with monthly financial support. They are receiving 18,000 PKR per month to assist them in their daily needs.

Orphan Sponsorship

270 orphans are benefit from a monthly sponsorship.

Ulema Financial Assistance

Over 85 Ulama benefit are being helped with financial support for the year. Many work for free or barely survive on meagre incomes.

MACEDONIA

Teacher Sponsorship

Twelve teachers are being funded to teach free Islamic education to poor local communities.

PAKISTAN

Cataract Surgeries

Over 2,250 poor rural patients from across Punjab are receiving free cataract operations. These life-saving surgeries will make a huge difference to these mostly farmers and labourers.

Masjid Construction

Seven large masjids and 37 small masjids have been newly constructed. A further 15 Masjids are currently under construction.

Wells Construction

In the latest round of construction, 439 medium and 300 deep wells have been installed so far. A further 94 small wells remain under construction across the Sindh region while another 250 deep wells remain under construction in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Wells Maintenance

Ninety old water wells have been repaired in KPK, five in Punjab and over 100 in the Sindh province.

Medical Aid

Free health care has been provided to 1,580 needy patients in the districts of Swabi and Nowshera. A further 170 wheelchairs had been distributed amongst the mobility-impaired.

Housing Construction

Fifty-seven houses have so far been fully constructed out of total 66 houses. The remaining nine houses are currently being built for poor families in KPK.

Income Generating Projects

Twenty-five new rickshaws have been provided to the breadwinners of poor families, allowing them to secure a more regular income amidst the Covid 19 pandemic.

Teachers Sponsorship

Over 470 teachers are currently being sponsored under this project. Each is receiving a monthly stipend of PKR 8,000.

Hifz Sponsorship

1,074 Hifz students are receiving monthly support to complete the memorisation

of the Holy Qur’an.

Orphan Sponsorship

A total of 1,300 orphans across the country are being. This regular assistance will make easier for them as they grow up.

Food Aid

A large food programme is being planned for poor and displaced families. The procurement of vital staples such as sugar, cooking oil and rice is ongoing.

Da

wah Centre

A subsidised da’wah centre is providing Islamic education to 532 poor children. Classes are also running for adults.

Orphan Sponsorship

Ummah Welfare Trust continues to provide a monthly financial sponsorship to 250 orphans.

A monthly sponsorship £25 is being provided to 150 huffadh.

Teacher Sponsorship

A monthly stipend of £30 each is being provided to 172 teachers who are teaching poor children for free.

SPAIN

Islamic Educational Centre

A new madrassah in Seville is being subsidised by Ummah Welfare Trust. The centre provides free education and instructions to children up to the age of 15. The community here is expanding, so the centre is making a real difference.

SRI LANKA

Orphan Sponsorship

Monthly grants of £25 are being provided to 80 orphans across Sri Lanka

Teacher Sponsorship

Financial support is being provided to 50 teachers who are working across 75 different maktabs in Sri Lanka.

United Kingdom

Covid19 Hardship Support

Individuals struggling financially due to the Covid 19 pandemic and increased redundancies are being helped, following assessments, with financial assistance.

Masjid Support

Small masjids struggling to cover bills and debts are being helped with financial grants.

Masjid Construction

Construction of three masjids in the Zomba and Rumphi regions have been completed. The construction of a further six masjids has commenced.

Water Wells

The drilling of 114 new wells in rural central Malawi is currently ongoing.

Over twenty-five maktabs and nurseries are being fully subsidised to ensure that hundreds of children can learn for free.

Medical Clinics

Rural clinics in Katema and Makenjera are providing health check-ups and medicines to thousands of mothers and children.

Teacher Sponsorship

Teachers at a large rural madrassah are being reimbursed to ensure hundreds of children can continue to study.

ETHIOPIA

Orphan Sponsorship

Monthly grants of £25 are being given to 305 orphans. This grant supports orphans with their basic day to day needs.

Teacher Sponsorship

Teachers of rural madrassahs are being reimbursed to ensure that hundreds of students can study for free.

House Construction

The construction of new houses for six poor families has commenced. The families are mostly orphaned families.

MOZAMBIQUE

Masjid Construction

Construction on behalf of Ummah Welfare Trust’s late field officer, Marhoom

Basharat, remains ongoing in Beira, Mozambique

THE GAMBIA

Mattresses & Prayer Mats

A country-wide distribution of mattresses and prayer mats is ongoing to boarding schools and madrassahs across the country. So far, 2,178 mattresses and 599 prayer mats have reached to 184 schools in the Kombo North District.

Financial Assistance Programme

The preparation for nationwide cash grant programme to 19,000 poor teachers and imams The Gambia has commenced. Approximately £4,400,000 of assistance will be distributed in the coming month.

Hardship Assistance

At least half a dozen families were helped in hardship cases with either food, home repairs, medical bills or outstanding rents and fees.

Daru Sunnah

A Qur’an memorisation school for 736 boys and girls in Banjul is being subsidised. All the utility, food and salary costs are being covered to ensure a free education.

Kunting Islamic School

Free Islamic education is being provided to 216 students and fifty hifdh students. Meals and staff salaries are covered by the charity.

School Uniforms

Two sets of new school uniforms are being provided to 8,490 students across thirteen schools. The clothing is currently being sewn.

Sierra Leone

Makeni Islamic Centre

A Qur’an centre in the inland town of Makeni is freely teaching seventy hifdh students and 500 general students. All the meal costs, salaries and utility bills are covered.

Ilmo Dhikr School

An Islamic nursery and primary school in the capital Freetown is providing free education to 202 students, both boys and girls.

Ansarul Islam Secondary School

An Islamic secondary school in Freetown is providing free education to 600 students as well as an additional 150 hifdh students. The salaries of all the teachers are being covered.

Masjid Construction

The construction of 20 new masjids is nearing completion. Wells are also being built for a number of the masjids.

Teacher Sponsorship

68 Islamic teachers and 3 monitors are being sponsored to deliver Islamic education in the new masjids built across Sierra Leone.

School Construction

The construction of a new school is underway. Ilmo Dhikr school facilities will be expanded to facilitate for extra students.

Covid-19 Masjid Support

The distribution of 127,500 reusable face masks remains ongoing across four major districts: Western Urban, Western Rural, Bo and Makeni. Over 4,500

Veronica buckets are also being distributed to 1,525 masjids around Sierra Leone.

Hardship Cases

Forty newly widowed sisters have received cash grant of SLL 3,000,000 each to help them meet their daily needs.

Construction of Classroom Blocks

Five classroom blocks are being built to increase the capacity for Ummah Welfare Trust’s Islamic Studies programme.

HAITI

Medical Clinic Support

Ummah Welfare Trust has funded the Hope Medical clinic in Chalon, Miragoane, Haiti, for several years now and are still supporting the valuable work this clinic provides for the poor locals - Each month hundreds of patients benefit from the use of this clinic. The Clinic has been operational since it reopened in July after a nationwide lockdown.

IRAQ

Orphan Sponsorship

Monthly grants of £34 are being given to each orphan. This project is still ongoing despite Covid- 19 lockdowns in some areas of Iraq. This grant supports the

Vocational Training Centre

The training centre was open throughout October despite Covid-19 restrictions in Erbil. A further 20 learners have acquired sewing skills training which will be a source of income for them going forward and help them live an independent life.

Hygiene Kits

To combat the surge in Covid 19 infections in central Iraq, Ummah Welfare Trust has begun distributing hygiene kits. Masks produced by the graduates of the vocational training centre are sewing 114,000 masks. These will be distributed along with other items including hand gels and soap to 11,400 families.

PALESTINE

Orphan Sponsorship

Ummah Welfare Trust continues to provide monthly sponsorship to 1,963

orphans. The monthly £25 payment allows these orphans to fulfil their basic day to day needs and also to continue with their education.

Widow Sponsorship

A monthly sponsorship support of £30 continues for 120 windows. This payment helps the hard-pressed widows with meeting some of the essential everyday expenses.

Hifdh Sponsorship

A monthly sponsorship support of £15 is being paid to each of the 731 hifdh students and £193 for each of the 38 hifdh teachers.

Teacher Sponsorship

A monthly stipend of £200 each is provided to 3 female teachers supporting 20 students with essential Islamic education.

Water Distribution

A regular water distribution project is providing regular supply of water to 700 families. In addition to this, many schools, masajid and 4 hospitals receive a daily supply of clean water for their day to day needs.

Water Filtration plant

Due to the chronic shortage of clean drinking water, the poor and the vulnerable are facing extra difficulties in their daily lives. A water filtration plant has been installed to help with the supply shortages for the besieged people of Gaza.

House Repair Grants

Ummah Welfare Trust is providing cash grants for poor Gaza citizens to undertake repairs to their homes which are in a state of disrepair. Phase 2 will allow a

further half a million pounds to be spent in helping beneficiaries repair their homes.

COVID Financial Assistance

Due to increased infections of COVID severe restrictions have been placed on movement in Gaza. This has led to hardship for families who rely on daily labour. Ummah Welfare Trust is providing cash grants for poor Gazans for 300ILS (£70) to help them buy essentials during this challenging time.

Food Vouchers

Due to severe poverty and food insecurity in the Gaza strip Ummah Welfare Trust have started a programme to support 270 vulnerable families. Each family

Solar Plants

The Gaza strip has been suffering from a chronic deficit in electricity since 2006. The strip has an average of 320 days of sunshine a year, making renewable energy an ideal option in addressing the energy shortage. Ummah Welfare Trust is providing a sustainable energy solution through the installation of solar panels.

Medical equipment

The hospitals in Gaza suffer from the shortage of medical supplies and

equipment. Medical devices are often broken, missing spare parts, or out of date. Ummah Welfare Trust is providing beds to the Ministry of Health’s hospitals.

Masjid repairs

Masjids are places of worship for Muslims and it’s acts as the hub of the

community. With the ongoing turmoil in Palestine, masjids continue to be destroyed resulting in them requiring urgent repair or reconstruction in some cases. Ummah Welfare Trust is repairing damaged masjids to bring them back to their former glory.

SYRIA

Financial Assistance

Ummah Welfare Trust has been providing financial assistance to displaced and poor Syrians throughout the year; and is continuing to do so now. 6,200

vulnerable families will be provided with cash grants of 200 USD each to meet their basic day to day needs.

Orphan Sponsorship

Ummah Welfare Trust continued to provide monthly sponsorship support of £35 to 3000 orphans in and around Idlib.

Injured Families Support

A monthly support of $50 is provided to 753 families helping them meet their basic needs.

Baby Milk Distribution

The displacement in Syria of a large number of people has led to immense

suffering for new mothers and new born babies. Ummah Welfare Trust has been providing formula milk for babies through local medical clinics and has continued with this much needed programme.

Bread Distribution

The refugees inside Syria are living in overcrowded conditions, with little food and not much space to store raw materials. Ummah Welfare Trust has started to deliver two packs of bread per day to at least 6,800 families daily to ensure they have sufficient food.

Medical Equipment

With the ongoing turmoil in Syria, the need for medical equipment is great. A survey conducted of hospitals identified a need for a Gastrointestinal Endoscopy machine. These items were delivered to hospitals across Syria. This device was purchased and delivered to a hospital in north of Syria.

Turkey

Uyghur Refugees Financial Assistance

Ummah Welfare Trust has been financially supporting the vulnerable Uyghur refugees living in Istanbul, Keysori and a few other cities in Turkey. Most of the Uyghurs are in great need and do not have a regular income. Families receive cash or bank payment ranging from 2000 TL to 5000 TL dependent on the size and need of their families.

Emergency Food Aid

The ongoing conflict and instability in the country has resulted in one of the greatest manmade disasters of modern time. To meet the levels of food

insecurity Ummah Welfare Trust is preparing to deliver a major programme of over 7500 food packs to poor families in Sana’a.

Water Distribution

Due to the ongoing conflict and instability in the country, the greatest need for people after food is clean water. In view of this need, we have started a water distribution project to the poor neighbourhoods and families which will benefit over 360 families.
