How Diesel Snot Could Cost Your Credit Union Millions

Patrick Spencer, Regional Sales Executive, Bluelock Are you ready for this? Sixty-five percent of all organi-zations fail their own disaster recovery tests. And, for the ones that fail, forty-seven percent of the time they fail because of human error. Only nine percent of the time is it truly a natural disaster. Would your credit union succeed in its current disaster recovery plan? Disaster Recovery (DR) is sometimes called an “insur-ance payment” because you have to put money into it, but unless you have a disaster, you never really see what you are paying for. But can you afford not to take it seriously? No, research shows the average cost of losing a critical application is $5,000 per minute.

Join Patrick for an interactive presentation where a simple card game examines the risk companies take on a daily basis in dealing with business continuity and disaster planning.

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM): A Credit Union Perspective

David Reed, Esq., Attorney, Reed & Jolly, PLLC Every volunteer needs to be comfortable with the concept of risk and feel confident that their credit union has adopted an appropriate risk appetite. The look and feel of risk regularly changes, and it remains the central focus of NCUA examinations.

The use of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) concepts will assist the volunteer in assessing risk management success across the entire credit union operation. ERM is a process implemented by a credit union’s board of directors, management and staff that’s applied at a high level across the enterprise.

Learn the basics of a high level, credit union-wide risk management program and how to identify significant strategic issues that are important to integrate into your credit union’s risk management program.

If You Say “Cloud Computing” One More Time . . . I’m Going To Scream

Patrick Spencer, Regional Sales Executive, Bluelock Cloud . . . shmoud! How many of you are tired of hearing about the cloud? Private cloud, public cloud, hybrid cloud, mega cloud . . . the list goes on and on. But what does it all mean? It’s time to dig in and find out.

Research suggests that cloud is an on-demand, self-service, broad network access, resource pooling, rapid elasticity and measured service. That’s a mouthful—but what does it mean for you?

Credit unions are adopting the cloud every day. But are all clouds the same? No, and this session will examine which might be the right cloud for you.

Get ready for an insightful discussion on cloud computing and how it is changing the IT world forever . . . in a fantastic way!

During this session, we will review:

The three distinct cloud foundations

How to find the right cloud for you

Where the industry is going and what it means

for your IT team

What the experts are saying about the future of the cloud

Bank Secrecy Act for CU Directors

David Reed, Esq., Attorney, Reed & Jolly, PLLC Under Part 748 of the NCUA rules and regulations, every credit union is required to have a robust security program that includes a Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) compliance program. In fact, this is the only regulation with which your board must specifically certify compliance.

Like it or not, credit unions are on the front lines in the battle against criminal & terrorist financing. Better yet, we have a mandate to collect and analyze information on behalf of the federal government, and the board of directors has the ultimate responsibility for compliance. New forms, regulations and guidance seem to be coming out every day. The board is required to regularly review and ensure adherence to your CU’s BSA policies & procedures. Learn the nuts and bolts of the Bank Secrecy Act at this interactive session. Each participant will receive a certifi-cate of completion to have on file at their credit union.

11:35 a.m. – 12:35 p.m.

Risk Oversight – Part I

Joette Colletts, Senior Manager, Risk Management, Business Protection, CUNA Mutual Group Every process, product or service can expose your credit union to both internal and external risks, such as:

Employee theft

Employment practices liability resulting from

ination, harassment or a hostile working environment

Physical threats (i.e., robbery and natural disasters)

Automated clearinghouse fraud, data breaches

and identity theft

Effective risk oversight begins with a solid understanding of overseeing risk. Discover how to assess your credit union’s risk tolerance and establish risk policies and procedures that align with your organization’s strategic planning, including a formal and continuous risk assess-ment process.

The 10 Essential Elements To Crafting And Managing An Effective

Director Training Program

Diane Pape Reed, President, CU Doctor Today’s credit union requires a highly committed and well-trained board of directors. But the rapidly changing financial services marketplace makes it difficult for the volunteer to keep pace with the latest information, member service trends and regulatory requirements. Your credit union needs a process to educate and update its volunteers that can be customized to your size and complexity. Diane will provide practical guidance for developing and maintaining an exciting director training program. She will discuss required training areas and available training resources. And, as an added bonus, all who attend will be provided with a sample board training calendar.
