Scholarship

Program was founded by the Hungarian

Government in

201 3.

Scholarships can

be

awarded

to citizens of those

countries that

hive a valid/effective

bilateral

educational cooperarion

plan

signed by the Hungarian Ministry of Human Resources

and

the

rlh!vant

ministry responsible for education.

The

pre-selection

of

the candidates

Will be carried

out

by the Ministry of Educa.tlon of the given country or by the scholarship board

appoInted

by that ministry.

Hungary through rhe Balassi Institute Hungarian Scholarship Board (HSB) Office offers scholarships for

foreign nationals

who intend to pursue their full BA/BSc, MA/MSc or

undivid(!d MA

or

PhD studies in Hungarian state accredited higher education institutions.

Admission criteria: holding a HA/SSc degree/c(!rtificate and successful entra.nce exam for the chosen program. The. duration of the

programs -

depending on the type of the prQ9rams - is determined by the actual law in force.

2. Full PhD

progra.m

Application criteria for

PhD programs: holding a MAIMSc degree/certificate and successful entrance exam for the chosen program. The scholarship is conditional upon successful entrance exam

to

the respective doctoral program or doctoral

school. The dura.tion of the progtams - according to the actual law in force - Is 36 months.

CASES OF NON-ELIGIBILITY

Foreign citizens with a reSidence/immigration permit or in the course of

applying

for

such a permit in Hungary

Foreign citizens with permanent residence in Hungary

ForE!ign citizens employed on a permanent basIs in Hungary as defined by the Hungarian labour LAW.

Applicants in employment applying for part-time or correspondence study

programs

LANCUACE REQUIREMENTS

If the language of instruction is a foreign language, applicants need to know the given

languIge on a 'Iver that is required

by

the host Institution.

If the language of Instruction Is Hungarian, students shall participate In a one-year

preparatory

course

provided

by

the

Balassi

Institute before

starting

their

nigher

education

studies. During that year the Hungarian language as well as subjects related to the chosen field of the future studies will be taught.

GENERAL PROVISIONS

The scholarships are valid for studies in Hungarian

state

universities or state colleges, for

studl@s In scientific fields defined in the effective bilateral educational work plans

with

Hungary.

The scholarships awarded for SA/SSe, MAfMSc a.nd for one-cycle, undivided MA programs

may be extended in accordance with the. actual

law

in fOr'ce.

The

duration

of the PhD

programs cannot be extended in accordance! with thQ actual law In force. The Stlpendium

FURTHER INFORMATION ON FINANCIAL PR.OVISIONS

The scholarship is meant to cover the living expenses of one person only so there Is no

available financing or visa exemption for accompanying members of the family or any other persons. The stipend

will

not be effectuated imm@diately upon arrival in Hungary.

Therefore scholarship holders ar~ advised to have a sufficient amount of mOMy to Cover their living costs for at least one month

In

Hungary.

Travel

Expenses

Travel expenses to \olungary, within Hungary and bac~ to the country of origin shall not b@

the Minister responsible for education in Hungary based

upon the nomination of the! HungarIan $t;holarship Board - with the provision that

the

scholarship holder has to conform to the application and entrance exam criteria of the Hungarian higher education Institution and has to officially enrol to the Hungarian higher education institution.

The list of successful applicants for the different types of scholarships will be sent to the
