Power is a basic need.

How we provide it, however, goes beyond basic.

At NRG, we’re large enough – and fl exible

enough – to meet the needs of our

customers, off ering them a wide-ranging

energy portfolio. This depth and breadth makes possible the customized energy solution we can develop and deliver to you –

effi ciently, reliably and reassuringly.

These solutions keep the power on – always on – in homes, businesses, factories, stadiums, campuses, hospitals and municipalities across the country. Customized means many things to many

customers. For some, it extends to our ability to be a one-stop, one-source energy

provider – allowing you to focus on growing your business.

We can build, own, operate and maintain a solution – in many cases removing the

need for signifi cant upfront capital. We

can also leverage resources you already have in place, revitalizing them in ways both advanced and economical.

We are more than a generator of power. We are a provider of solutions. As you discover what we’ve developed for others, consider what we can develop for you. The list is long, the possibilities

infi nite – renewable resources, smart

energy solutions, backup generation, demand response, energy management systems, electric vehicle charging stations, grid power, district energy systems, and combined heat and power.

At NRG, we’re making energy as advanced, diverse and innovative as the customers we serve.

8 NFL Franchises, 8 Energy Game Plans

Solar power is the power behind the most valuable football franchises in America where we’ve put innovative solutions in place that harness the sun in clean, renewable ways. And we’ve done

it quickly. At FedExField in Washington, for example, it took just 90 days from agreement to a fully-operating solar solution. Here, 8,000 solar panels provide two megawatts of power at peak capacity, while also providing coverage for 841 parking spaces. Plus, a 30-foot sculpture of a

football player placed in the entry plaza to symbolize the team’s commitment to solar. Other solar installations are being developed in New York, Philadelphia, New England and San Francisco.

And that’s just part of the story – we’ve also developed innovative system-power projects for

stadiums in Dallas and Houston.

Princeton HealthCare System

Medicine has always been a catalyst for invention. For Princeton HealthCare System, we delivered a solution using electricity from a combined heat and power system along with

solar power, energy-saving smart meters and a backup power source. In a mission-critical setting like this, our solution is more than effi cient and innovative – it’s a vital element in the eff ort to enhance and save lives.

Innovation and customer service have

no boundaries.

Yum! Brands

Yum! Brands was looking to consolidate the number of electricity suppliers they have nationally.

With 37,000 restaurants, including Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, KFC and Long John Silver’s, the

company’s large volume of accounts means that customer service and support is particularly important. These elements were a key factor in the decision to choose Reliant, the largest retail brand in the NRG family, as their electricity provider and to name them Supplier of the Year for

the exceptional service they delivered. More recently, the relationship expanded further with

added business in Maryland, Delaware, and Washington DC. Proof that a customized electricity plan goes well with chicken, pizza and tacos.

Turning a worst-case scenario into a

best-case solution.

City of Houston

A powerful storm provides a powerful test for any electricity provider. After Hurricane Ike in 2008, the City of Houston – and other municipalities – began ramping up their eff orts to secure a source for reliable back-up power. Not only was it the right thing to do, ensuring

vital services like electricity and a clean water supply, it was also mandated by the state

legislature. Our solution? A back-up generation system that not only was powerful enough and tailored for the city’s needs, but also included a unique fi nancing approach to address budget limitations. In situations where “fi ve-nines” reliability (99.999%) is no longer enough, our solution provides 100% reassurance at every level.

Phoenix Convention Center – light rail station

In Arizona, temperatures of 110° F are commonplace – and just the place for an uncommon NRG solution. In two months we brought a unique cooling system to light rail station passengers and we did it with no disruption to daily activities. It leveraged our expertise in district cooling and heating energy systems design, solar power, engineering, and project management. Equally important, it built on the value of the center’s existing assets, driving new value from what was already in place. Proof that innovation doesn’t always mean all-new.

A lesson in solar ingenuity.

Arizona State University, School Districts nationwide

Schools have long been a haven for innovation. So it’s only fi tting that educational institutions have embraced the benefi ts of solar. At Arizona State University, that idea recently took shape in the form of an innovative 2.1-megawatt distributed solar pavilion, covering 800 parking spaces and featuring a unique 24-foot-high PowerParasol™. We’ve also constructed carport and ground-mounted shade structures incorporating solar

generation at multiple school districts across the country. These systems will deliver more

than seven megawatts of solar power – and up to 100% of the power at the schools. Just as innovative, our fi nancing plan allows them to be constructed with no upfront capital costs.

The Smart Energy future? It’s here now.

NRG SimplySmart Solutions

®

The rollout of Smart Meters in Texas provided the opportunity to arm homeowners with more

knowledge, more control and, ultimately, the ability to use less energy and save more money. That’s an impressive statement. Better yet, it’s something our SimplySmart Solutions team is

making happen for electricity providers and their customers – more than 650,000 in all ––

through weekly summary emails, online account management, mobile apps and smart energy

plans. If you’re a utility, municipality, co-op or business customer, now is a great time to become

The gas station of the Smart Energy future.

eVgo Freedom Station

®

Electric vehicles are well past the tipping point of acceptance. To help the growing number

of EV owners drive with “range confi dence,” our eVgo Freedom Station® sites provide a real-world charging solution to consumers on the go. Retailers, restaurants, grocery stores

and even the Washington Redskins have embraced the concept, installing stations at their facilities, enhancing their reputations and providing another reason for customers to visit.

Together, it’s all part of the nation’s fi rst privately funded electric vehicle infrastructure.

Better yet, it’s coming together now.
