MESSAGE FROM MISS PROBERT

This week at Lancot, we have been

focussing on the themes of community and

supporting other people and causes.

On Wednesday, the staff and children

joined together to observe the two

minutes silence for Remembrance Day.

They showed incredible respect and

empathy for others during this time, as

well as during class discussions throughout

the week.

The fantastic variety of ‘childhood heroes’

that children came dressed up as today to

support Children In Need shows just how

many people have a significant influence

on us. Look out for our LENS Special

Edition next Wednesday to share the

fantastic efforts with you.

We are so proud of how the children at

Lancot have expressed their consideration

for and support of other people this week.

Behind the scenes, Lancot are busy

preparing for our own upcoming

community events, including the Quiz,

Type Onesie Day and the Christmas

Market. We look forward to seeing those

of you who are able to attend and support.

Miss Probert

Year 3 would like to thank all the parents/carers who came to their topic WOW on Wednesday. The

children presented work from all areas of the

curriculum - stories, science reports and persuasive letters were read. Posters to encourage people to stop destroying the Tropical Rainforest were shown. The children presented their

computer animations about the Amazon explorer Percy Fawcett, who mysteriously disappeared many years ago. They also performed their musical

compositions of

Rainforest sounds. We ended with our song ‘Heal the World’. Well done Beech and Maple classes for you hard work!

ART WORKSHOP YRS 4, 5, and 6

Children in the above year groups took part

in an Art workshop recently.

It was an opportunity for the children to

make their own paper from scrap paper and

also to learn all about Remembrance Sunday

and the symbolism of the 'poppy'.

The children

incorporated the

poppy into their

artwork to remember

those who lost their

lives during wartime.

It was a fantastic workshop and we all

thoroughly enjoyed it!

Children will be

producing a design for a

christmas card this

week in class. The

design will then be sent

home next week and

parents can place an

order; the form will be

attached to the design.

All orders need to be

back in school by Friday

20th November. No

orders can be placed

after this date

unfortunately.

CHRISTMAS CARDS

On Monday, Rainforest Class built scale models of their dream school as part of our parent workshop. After the initial planning meeting, they began by selecting a part of the building that they wanted to recreate. Throughout the day, there were

opportunities to measure, draw, cut and glue in order to create a free- standing representation of their design.

Rainforest Class learnt the importance of the saying; ‘measure twice, cut once’ as they experienced the frustrations, complications, excitement and the enjoyment of creating a building.

The children worked really hard and were understandably proud of their finished models. Thank you very much to those parents who were able to pop into school to help. Thank you also to Mr Nash for providing many of the resources in order to ensure that this was a challenging, yet successful learning experience for our children.
