Introduction benefit

If you are new here in Sweden you are entitled to introduction benefit. Introduction benefit is money that you receive when you have an intro-duction plan at the Employment Agency. If you have children you can also get supplementary introduction benefit. If you live alone you can get supplementary introduction benefit for housing.

What is introduction benefit?

The Employment Agency decides who is entitled to introduction benefit and how much money you will receive. The Employment Agency pays out the benefit.

How do I apply for introduction benefit?

You apply for introduction benefit at the Employment Agency. In order to get intro-duction benefit you must be 20 years of age but not 65. You must have a residence permit as a refugee, quota refugee, or in the need of protection.

How much will I get as introduction benefit?

If you participate in an introduction plan full time you will get 308 SEK per day, five days a week. If you participate

 75 percent you will get 231 SEK per day  50 percent you will get 154 SEK per day  25 percent you will get 77 SEK per day

If you have children

If you are entitled to introduction benefit you can also get supplementary introduction benefit if you have children living at home. The children or child must

 Be living and registered nationally with you  Be or have been in your custody

How much will I get as supplementary introduction benefit?

The amount of supplementary introduction benefit that you will get depends on how many children you have and how old they are. You will get 800 SEK for each child under 11 years of age. You will get 1500 SEK for each child over 11 years of age. At the most you will get supplementary introduction benefit for three children. If you have more than three children it is the three eldest children who count. As a maximum you may get 4 500 SEK per month.

You will get less money as supplementary introduction benefit if you do not partici-pate full time in the introduction plan. You will also get less money as supplementary introduction benefit if anyone in the household has gainful employment.

How do I apply for supplementary introduction benefit?

You apply for the supplementary introduction benefit by filling in the application form FK 6700

which you can download from our website .www.forsakringskassan.se You can also order application forms by telephone 020-524 524. If you are living together with a spouse who is also entitled to introduction benefit and supplementary introduction benefit you must apply together on the application form FK 6701 Ansökan om etableringstillägg Två sökanden. A live-in partner or registered partner is counted as a spouse.

Supplementary introduction benefit and maintenance

If you get maintenance for more than two children you will get less supplementary introduction benefit. If you get maintenance for three children you will only get sup-plementary introduction benefit for your two eldest children. If you get maintenance for four or five children you will get supplementary introduction benefit for the eldest child. If you get maintenance for six children or more you are not entitled to any sup-plementary introduction benefit.

If you live alone

If you live alone in your own accommodation and are on the national register there, you are entitled to supplementary introduction benefit for housing. If you have chil-dren who live with you sometimes you are also entitled to supplementary introduction benefit for housing.

If you lodge with someone or share accommodation with someone else you are not entitled to supplementary introduction benefit for housing.

You are entitled to supplementary introduction benefit for housing even if you rent sublet accommodation. However in this case the rental agreement must be in writing and the landlord, housing cooperative or rent tribunal must have agreed to the sublet-ting.

Supplementary introduction benefit for housing is the sum of your rent minus 1 800 SEK. You are not entitled to supplementary introduction benefit for housing for rent that is in excess of 5 700 SEK. At the most you are entitled to 3 900 SEK. For exam-ple, if you have a rent of 3 500 SEK you will get 1 700 SEK as supplementary intro-duction benefit for housing.

You will get less money as supplementary introduction benefit for housing if you do not participate full time in the introduction plan. You will also get less money as sup-plementary introduction benefit for housing if you have gainful employment.

When will I receive the money?

Introduction benefit, supplementary introduction benefit and supplementary introduc-tion benefit for housing is paid out once a month by the Swedish Social Insurance Agency.

Please report any changes!

You must report all changes that may affect your benefit to the Swedish Social Insur-ance Agency. This may be, for example, that you work, that your child moves out or someone moves into the accommodation where you live. If you have received too much money you may be required to pay it back.
