Whiten and Brighten
Professionally monitored smile whitening has many positive and exciting benefits. Over-the-counter and through-the-mail products can create uneven results, irritate your teeth or gums if not used properly, and sometimes not work at all. Dr. Baumann and his team can determine what whitening system is right for you.
Using Zoom!™ – a light-activated whitening system – you can enjoy a whiter smile within about an hour. We apply a whitening gel to your teeth and use a special light to create maximum whiteness. The gel is safe for gums and teeth. You leave our office with a whole new look.
Zoom! is designed with your comfort and convenience in mind. It can keep your teeth white for as long as five years. We provide you with a simple, six-months maintenance process. Let us introduce you to Zoom! technology. It is clinically proven to dramatically whiten smiles easier and faster than ever before.
Whether your teeth are worn, chipped, broken, or uneven… cosmetic dentistry offers solutions that are healthy, attractive and very convenient.
Beautiful, translucent, and natural-looking ceramic veneers can totally transform your smile. No more covering your mouth when you smile. No more biting your tongue or inner lip. The strength and durability of these veneers can give you years of confident chewing and smiling.
Composite bonding is one of the most conservative,
versatile, and affordable ways to cover tooth discoloration, close gaps, repair chips, or replace a small amount of the tooth. You can even use composite bonding to replace your old black fillings. These composite restorations actually strengthen the remaining tooth. Natural-colored materials such as Targis/Vectris and Belle Glass restorations are an excellent choice if you’re a health-conscious person. These restorations are free of mercury and actually bond to the tooth. This strengthens the tooth while matching the surrounding teeth. You can replace your old metal fillings, strengthen your damaged tooth, and maybe even eliminate the need for a crown.

Spaces and Gaps
We no longer need to rely exclusively on braces to close gaps between your teeth. By using ceramic veneers or cosmetic bonding on your teeth, gaps can be closed, bites can be improved, and the overall appearance of your smile can be enhanced.
• What are porcelain veneers? They are custom-made, tooth-colored coverings that are strongly bonded to your teeth. They can change the whole appearance of your smile. Besides closing gaps, veneers cover teeth that are stained, crooked, chipped or poorly shaped – and they permanently whiten them.
• What is cosmetic bonding? Technologically advanced, tooth-colored material is strongly bonded to the surface of the tooth in the way an artist applies paint to a canvas – layer by layer. Bonding also covers discolorations and repairs chips, breaks and cracks.
An attractive smile – complete with straight teeth – can open doors in your personal and professional life. Unfortunately, many people think they need to wear braces for two to three years before they can have the smile of their dreams.
Today, in as little as two visits, you can have the straight, white teeth you’ve always wanted.
Even if you had beautiful teeth as a teen, you may have noticed that as you get older, your teeth may have become crooked, overlapped, or crowded, and now they ruin your formerly beautiful smile.
In many of these cases, Dr. Baumann can use crowns or ceramic veneers to improve the appearance and alignment of the teeth while correcting and enhancing the color and shape as well.
“Instant” Straight Teeth
The science of neuromuscular dentistry [NMD] helps evaluate and treat the health of the muscles of the temporomandibular joint. NMD is based upon establishing a good bite with muscles that are relaxed, allowing for optimal health. With the assistance of the K-7
computer system, a detailed analysis of your bite will be done. Analysis includes EMG (electromyograph), jaw tracking, and joint sonography. This data will help establish a new neuromuscular bite. This information can be very important if you are considering aesthetic, orthodontic, or reconstructive dentistry.
Sadly enough, missing teeth can affect the way others perceive your intelligence and your social status. Worse yet, missing teeth can cause your other teeth to shift, drift, twist, or distort.
To make matters worse, if your bite is off, you can get headaches and pain in your jaw joints. You also can increase your chances of getting periodontal disease, and may need to have other teeth removed.
Here are two exciting options for replacing missing teeth.
Implants allow you to speak, eat, and smile with complete comfort and confidence. They can also serve as a solid anchor for dentures. Because the Dental Implant’s “root” is actually implanted (anchored) in your jaw, the tooth is permanent and can dramatically change the rest of your life.
Empress and Empress II Porcelain inlays, crowns, and bridges can replace missing teeth and are by far the most beautiful and natural looking crowns available today… often indistinguishable from natural teeth.
If you need a number of teeth replaced and need “large space bridgework,” you may want to choose traditional porcelain-fused-to-metal restorations. This state-of-the-art technique provides the substructure strength for maximum function.

Revitalized • Youthful Appearance
Your smile can enhance your appearance or it can prematurely age you.
You may have dull, yellow, even gray teeth. Your smile might have cracks, stains, and chips. Maybe you have receded gums and missing and shifted teeth. These issues, often by themselves, can significantly influence your self-confidence, facial structure and muscle stress.
A rejuvenated smile can relax strained facial muscles, even make over your entire facial presentation. We can achieve a result similar to a facelift, something we call a “smilelift.”
We specialize in brilliant, long-lasting smiles. Our team can help you enhance your smile by making it whiter, brighter, more attractive, and healthier. Plus, we help you keep it that way by providing advanced continuing care. We can take care of your smile issues quickly and thoroughly so you can enjoy life without worries or self-conscious feelings.
We strive to make your visits as effortless as possible. In fact, many of our patients come from all over the country just to take what we call a “smile vacation.”

Q. My smile used to be very white. What can I do to get back that clean, gleaming look?
A. We have one-visit whitening. In just over an hour, your teeth can be “Zoomed” up to eight shades whiter. The procedure is completely pain free and absolutely safe. If you want a brighter smile, contact the Palm Desert Center today.
Q. My teeth are short and pointed. What can be done to give me a full smile?
A. Cosmetic bonding or porcelain veneers could be the answer. We can produce incredible results in improving your smile. Using these advanced techniques, our Palm Desert Center experts can reshape your teeth and give you the smile of your dreams.
Q. Can you do anything about my “gummy” smile?
A. Depending on your circumstances, you may be a candidate for a procedure called “Crown Lengthening.” This is sometimes referred to as gum contouring and involves removing the extra gum tissue around your teeth. Dr. Baumann and the hygiene team utilize dentistry’s latest technological advancement called Laser Periodontal Therapy.
Q. I have a missing tooth. What can Dr. Baumann do for me?
A. You have a few options from which to choose. You can consider a bridge. Bridges fill in the space left by lost teeth, and they help support the surrounding teeth as well. Another option is a dental implant. An implant is “rooted” in your jawbone and becomes a permanent tooth. If your tooth has been broken off, but the root is still intact, we can place an esthetic crown and save your tooth.
Q. I have a small cavity and don’t like the sound of the drill. Is there anything else the dentist can use?
A. At The Palm Desert Center, you may have the option of having your dentist use “Air Abrasion” instead of a traditional drill. This technology is ideal for natural teeth that have new decay present. Air Abrasion uses an instrument that sprays small, safe, abrasive particles at the teeth, quickly and easily removing decayed or stained areas. Many patients appreciate this instrument because anesthesia is usually not needed and there’s no drill sound.
Q. Is there anything new besides just getting “the shot” for numbing my teeth?
A. We use “The Wand” to greatly decrease discomfort and post care numbness. It is a computer-assisted method of delivering local anesthesia. The Wand’s computer produces more comfortable injections. In fact, many injections that were once considered sensitive can now be accomplished with nearly pain-free precision.
Q. I need a lot of dental work, but going to the dentist scares me. How can you help me?
A. Our office is now offering a service called “Conscious Sedation.” It’s totally safe and effective in treating patients who are apprehensive about dental treatment. Before we begin working, you’ll take a pill that causes relaxation and sleepiness. This makes it possible for you to get the care you need with fewer appointments, no pain, and very little memory of the dental experience.
